An Hour of Bliss! The Four Fountains Spa (Bandra) Review

Hello patient readers! I say patient because I suck at being a regular blogger, don't I? >.<
Today I'll be reviewing something that I've tried for the first time, i.e. a spa treatment! So, let me share with you my journey of a little awkwardness (thanks to being mostly unclothed) and a LOT of bliss (thanks to the awesome full body massage)!

About The Four Fountains Spa:
The Four Fountains spa is India's largest chain of affordable health spas. You can get over 20 types of therapies to combat stress, health issues, toxins, aging and many other problems!
You can get massages, body wraps, facials, polishes and other great treatments without breaking the bank!
They have 17 spas in over 8 different cities according to their website but I'm sure the number is even more now. ^_^

So here's my experience at the Bandra branch of the Four Fountains!

On arrival, the first thing I noticed was the lemony smell that wafted out of the place as soon as I opened the door, it immediately put me in a restful state.
They had lovely decor, which was bathed in a mellow yellow light that added greatly to the relaxing atmosphere.
I was greeted by Ajinkya at the reception, we sat down to decide what therapy would be best for me. I took a little quiz that said my stress levels were moderate so he suggested a few therapies but I was still confused! In the end I asked him if they had anything to combat the blistering heat and surprise surprise, they did!

Reception (they also have a salon in the complex)
Ajinkya suggested I try the Summer Splash massage:
It's a Swedish massage that uses aloe vera gel instead of oil and also uses extracts of lemon and mint!
Sounds like heaven in this heat, yes? So of course I decided to go for it!

I was introduced to my masseuse, whose name I've conveniently forgotten, I feel bad about that. >.<
She directed me through a corridor into a massage room that had soothing Oriental music playing and an aromatic candle burning in a corner. She asked me to change into the disposable underwear they had provided and then ring a bell when I was ready for her to come in and start my therapy.

I love the idea of the underwear, it's hygienic and helps me hide my shame lol! But there was a small problem and that is the bit that was awkward... The top piece was basically a long strip of fabric that you tie around your bust and if you're "well endowed" you're not gonna have a good time! It refused to stay on and didn't exactly give the best coverage so remember that if you decide to go! Maybe you can carry your own bra? Sounds like a plan, right?

Anyway, I got past the awkwardness of my partial nudity soon because my masseuse was awesome. Not only was I completely covered in a sheet except where she would be working, she put me completely at ease by dimming the lights down so low you could barely see anything, her magic hands worked their way over so well that soon I was in a state of transcendence!

My feet were first washed with warm water, which felt lovely as it is! The masseuse told me she would start now and finish in an hour. The aloe vera was cool and unlike oil didn't feel greasy and gross, a feeling I despise even with massages! The aroma of the mint sent me off into a sleep like trance. Mmmm..

She started with my legs and worked upwards getting rid of any kinks and knots in my back. Then I turned around for my stomach and shoulders. She also offered me a head massage in the beginning which I declined as the oil tends to strip my hair colour. :( I would have loved to try it though!
She patiently changed pressure wherever I asked and even lowered the AC when the effects of the gel came into effect and I started feeling cold.

Once the hour was up, she washed my feet once more and asked me to get up. I was so giddy from the experience that getting up was a Herculean task for me! Once I managed to do so, the masseuse showed me to the shower and showed me the shampoo and shower gel dispensers and the workings of the hot and cold water, despite which I managed to scald myself good! Lol!

After my hot relaxing shower I changed back and headed back to the reception where I was given my next appointment date, a glass of unsweetened green tea, and a jar of de-stressing balm that my sister has decided to use every night because of her exams and claims it helps her sleep. It's made of aloe vera gel too, so I really like that!

Now time to go back home, still groggy and unable to fully control my leg muscles I walked out and got a cab. Got home and slept like a baby that night! Oh, and the after effects of the mint and lemon lasted a couple of days too! While everyone was sweating buckets, I remained relatively comfortable!

TL;DR? Try the Four Fountains spa if you need to de-stress and feel refreshed, they have a whole menu of therapies at affordable prices but you'll get treated like a queen! I have no complaints about the spa at all except for the size of the disposable "bra".
So do try it! ^_^
