Goodies from Nivea and Giveaway Announcement

Hey everyone!
I'm sitting here with orange hair right now, waiting for it to dry a bit so I can slap on some colour on to it! I'll show you what colour tomorrow. ^u^
But I was getting bored right now and thought I would share some goodies that Nivea sent me to try!
I remember when Nivea used to be that little blue tin of cream, now I realise they have SO many products!
Anyway, here's a little picspam for y'all!

I can't wait to try the Whitening Smooth Skin deo. Lol! JUST to see if it actually works! I will review it for you guys, armpit pics and all! HAHA! Yes, that's how much of a dedicated blogger I am, I will put up my armpits on the internet!

Then there is this SPF 30 water resistant Face Fluid and there's a face wash with it! It's INR 350! I feel like that is a lot but if the stuff is effective I wouldn't mind paying!
It looks really interesting, too bad I have no real use for it in this pouring rain. >.<
Come October though, I'm going to need it!

Lastly, there is "Powerfruit Relax" Shower gel.
GUYS! This smells like the burps of angels who've been eating blueberries! SERIOUSLY!
It is so good.
And that sentence up there is probably a sign I need more ventilation when I'm bleaching my hair. Lol!

And it all came in a lovely cloth bag with vintage Nivea ads on the side.
This one is from 1958! Lovely illustration!

Hope you enjoyed this little post! Do let me know what Nivea products you enjoy!

And also, Beauty and the Cheap is having it's 2000 likes giveaway on Facebook!

Love you all!

Make Your Own Eyeshadow Palette WITHOUT Magnets!

I've always wanted to make my own palette, especially for Inglot Freedom System eyeshadows which have insanely expensive palettes to go with them!
Whenever I would look up tutorials on Youtube, the solution was always the same, either you buy some kind of magnetic strip or tape OR you stick your eyeshadows down permanently with super glue or craft glue.

Now I didn't want to stick down my shadows because I like to be able to move them around, I also had problems with the magnetic strip considering it was difficult to find and SUPER EXPENSIVE!

So I decided to use me ol' noggin and what I came up with allows you to easily remove your eyeshadows from the palette anytime you want but also holds them securely in place!
The secret? Blu Tack!

What you need:

  • Any long thin box, metal/ plastic, whatever you like. I used an old watercolour tin I had.
  • Blu Tack: It's available at stationery stores, if you can't find it try online here. Costs only INR 90!
  • Eyeshadows of course!
  • Rubbing Alcohol to sanitise the box.

Step 1:
Sanitize your box with a cloth soaked in alcohol. You can use a sanitising spray as well. ^_^ Just get those tiny heebie-jeebies out!

ALL CLEAN!

Step 2:
Tear out a teeny bit of Blu Tack and roll it between your fingers, stick it to the bottom of your eyeshadows like shown below.
A small piece is more than enough!

Step 3:
Stick on your eyeshadow to the box by gently pushing it on till it feels secure.

That is literally it! That's how you do it. ^_^
Less than 100 spent to make a perfectly modifiable palette without any magnetic forces being used!

If you have a tin like mine, MAC shadows should stick down without Blu Tack thanks to the magnet at the back.

The Blu Tack is like chewing gum but more easy to remove, you can just peel it off and reuse it! ^_^

It won't come off no matter what as long you stick it on well. I've carried mine around in my kit and none of the eyeshadows have ever become loose. ^w^

And this is the end result:

I put some stickers and paper on the lid of mine to make it look more makeup and less stationery like!
So, that's how I make my own eyeshadow palettes! Without the pain of having to find magnets and all under 100 INR.

What do you think? Have you ever tried making a DIY palette?
Hope you enjoyed this tutorial and I hope it helped you! ^_^

Quick and Easy Neutral to Colour Makeup Tutorial

Hey guys, I've been wanting to do a tutorial for a while now and it really has been so long!
I was busy with classes and had to keep delaying editing images. >.<

But finally I've got the chance to do a tutorial for a look that I did in one of the shoot I worked in.
I had initially done a neutral eye using my Urban Decay Naked palette. Yes! I FINALLY GOT ONE! And I will review it soon if you're interested!

Anyway, so I had to change up the look later for the second part of the shoot and I didn't have much time so this is what I came up with:

That image i a bit small but basically I added some purple, green and gold to the eyes and changed the lips. Took me all of 15 minutes really with other touch ups!
This is a great way to do up your makeup from day to night or when you're in a hurry.

All you need is:

  • A neutral palette for the neutral day look. (Maybelline Chai Latte or Revlon Copper Spice are good options.)
  • Any coloured long lasting eye pencils. I used Faces Longwear. (Colorbar I-Glides or Ikonic are also good!)
  • Black and white pencils if you want
  • Mascara and fake lashes (optional)
  • Smudger brush/ qtips

Step 1:
Start with whatever neutral eye makeup you want, it can even be just a wash of a neutral shimmer or gold colour. I'm going to roughly replicate what I did for my model:

Step 2:
I applied a purple eye pencil from Faces to my outer V and lower lid.

Step 3:
Use a qtip or smudger/ pencil brush to blend out the edges. Remember to work fast since long lasting pencils set super fast! D:

Step 4:
Now, you can leave it at just one colour but for this look I used green as well on the upper lid.

Step 5:
Smudge it up GOOOD! Lol!

Just keep repeating the two steps till you have something you're happy with! ^_^

Final look:

I used a little white pencil on the inner corner too. ^_^
Easy eh?

I hope this tutorial helped you a bit, I feel like it is a bit redundant but I'm sure you'll be able to use it in a hurry.
I also did this tutorial for girls who have a hard time with makeup and are just beginning.
Most girls don't have colours in eyeshadow but are bound to have some colour pencils right? ^u^

Review: Sweet Candy Fast Dry Nail Polish #10 from Born Pretty Store

The weather's been all kinds of crazy here this week, from pouring on Sunday to sunny today, it's gone mad!  I really wish it would decide whether it wants to be summer or monsoon! Lol!
For either season though, I love pastels on my nails!
I've been painting them everything from mint to peach but my absolute favourite has been this lavender shade from the Sweet Candy Fast Dry Nail Polish Range at Born Pretty Store!

Price:
$2.95

Packaging:
It's a tiny square bottle, the lid matches the colour inside, isn't that cute! And practical too! Imagine a whole bunch of these in different colours together! PURDY!! >w<
The quantity is only 8ml though, that's sad, wish it was bigger! I've already gone through half a bottle in a couple of months! >.<

I love pastels and I love lavender! I go all "Raindrops and roses" over this shade! *u*
And not just because it's a pretty colour!

This nail polish is really fast drying! And everyone knows that fast drying polish chips with a vengeance! But this one lasts almost 4-5 days with just minor tip wear! ^_^
It doesn't get bubbles or anything like that but my good for nothing top coat sure does! SIGH! I need to buy a new one. >.>

I really want more of these, they have a whole bunch of beautiful shades! From yellows, blues, pinks and peaches, a colour for every outfit, mood or whatever else you pair nail polish with! *u*

My favourite way of wearing this colour is with NYX's Surf (my most loved polish)!

These ^ pics are about two days into wearing the polish! ^_^

If you want to check out the Sweet Candy nail polish range or anything else cosmetics and nail related, do check out Born Pretty Store! They have a vast collection of amazing things! >w<

What do you think of pastel polishes? Which is your fave colour? Let me know in the comments! ^_^

Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss: Glisten Up Pink Review

Hey everyone! Hope all of you guys are doing great!
I've been absolutely pooped these days, I have two more days left for my Hair Styling course at at Mu and I couldn't be more relieved! The timings are pretty awkward and I don't get to blog or do much else. >.<
Not to mention I TOTALLY suck at hair, with all the aptitude I have been blessed with in the field of makeup, I think I have the negative of that in hair! Lol!
Oh well, keep trying right?

Anyway, today I'm reviewing Maybelline's new Colorsensational High Shine Gloss in the shade Glisten Up Pink!

Price:
INR 350

Packaging:
The lipgloss comes in a typical lip gloss packaging except that instead of it being round, it's square. The transparent tube lets you see what kind of colour it is. A weird thing about the packaging though is that it has no name of the brand, colour or anything like that on the side of the tube. WHY? I don't know. -__-'

It has a normal doe foot wand.

It has the name of the colour on the bottom.

Colour, Texture and Fragrance:

Glisten Up Pink is a baby pink colour, great for those who have fair and cooler skin. It has tiny silver shimmers that give the lips a plump look. They don't feel gritty in anyway and the lipgloss is quite smooth.
It has a very faint citrus smell and is completely non-sticky.

Swatches:

On left: Thick swatch On right: Spread out
As you can see, the baby pink colour doesn't suit me much at all, and washes me out or rather makes my skin look a bit yellow.
It is however a great colour to apply over nude lipstick or liner like MAC Spice, paired up with a black smokey eye.

One layer: Pigmentation still shows.

Two layers: Pigmentation well covered but still showing

Over nude pink lip liner
Wear:
The High Shine gloss doesn't last too long on my lips especially after eating. Because it is non-sticky it doesn't have the wear that another stickier gloss would have. A problem I had with this colour was that the silver shimmers would spread a bit around my mouth area. >.<
Without eating it lasts for 3-4 hours.

Overall:
Not being a lip gloss girl, I liked this one just because of the non sticky texture. It doesn't last long because of this though. The shimmers add a 3 dimensional look but move around. So for every pro there seems to be a con. The best pros are that it is cheap and available everywhere!
Of course, I would buy this gloss, especially to use on shoots but definitely would prefer a different colour, like Gleaming Grenadine or Captivating Coral just because they would suit me better!

There are 8 shades of the Colorsensational High Shine Glosses. You can see them all here.

Have you tried the Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss? What colour do you prefer? Do let me know in comments below!

Myntra.com- Clothes and Makeup! Haul and Review

You guys know me, I'm never shy of shopping online! Be it Indian or international, I'm always looking for new stores to throw my money at. ;)
Myntra has recently become one such site! I was quite surprised that I have never ordered from them before this! Considering they are India's largest shopping websites, have so many awards under their belt for being an amazing e-commerce website and have quite an aggressive ad campaign!
Oh well, better late than never, eh?

Just for the record, I was contacted by Myntra to do this review a long while ago but thanks to me being super busy and my computer dying on me out of the blue, I didn't get the chance. >.<
I'm glad they haven't freaked out at me yet! ;~;
*is very sorry*

When I logged into Myntra, the first thing I noticed was that the layout was very clean, young, fun and colourful! All the products were categorised really well, from brand, colour, price, gender and what kind of product it was. This made looking for products very easy!

Of course, I was skimming all the makeup products together, because that's the way I roll! Lol! But in the end found two products I liked, a lipstick and a nailpolish, into the bag they went!

Just for larks I thought I would get a top too, specially for summer! I'm a closet goth or something because most of my clothes are black, I found a mint green top and dropped that into the bag as well.
I completed filling in my details and then waited patiently for my package to arrive!
Luckily this took only 3 days, which is pretty fast! ^_^

Here's how the package came:

Packed in a plastic bag with the logo of Myntra on it. I have two because they shipped them in two packages.

Inside one was my pretty green top, from the brand Style Quotient, a bit darker than what I had expected but still a purdy colour! ^w^

I was worried about fitting because I'm usually an L or an XL and sometimes even XXL *grumbles* but since Myntra had provided the size specifications perfectly on the site, it fit like a dream!

The little box, which is really pretty by the way had the makeup of course! It was wrapped up tight with bubble wrap!

Turns out, inside the box was a plastic box, separating and protecting both products! A very nice touch right?

The lipstick is Maybelline's SuperStay "Stay with me Coral", it's now OOS on there though. :( And the nail polish is Colorbar's "Riot Red" (love that name!)

I'm really happy with Myntra's service, the delivery was fast and sizing was perfect! I would like them to add more makeup products, rather more colour options to each makeup product! I would also have liked a shipping free option for an amount less than Rs.999.
But overall, it was a great experience shopping with them and you can find some amazing clothes and accessories there! I would definitely recommend them!

So what do you think about my haul?
Have you shopped from Myntra before? What did you get? I would love to know!
Thanks for reading!

I was provided with a voucher by the company to shop with them. My opinion is honest and my own.
