The amount of food you eat is directly proportional to how long your lipstick stays on. True story.
I love my food and I love my lipstick and during a long day out, my lipstick WILL fade to nothing thanks to all the burgers, chinese, pizza, pasta I consume. Now I'm hungry again... ;n;
So, obviously when I heard about the Super Stay lipsticks, I was first in line to give them a go, although not first in line to review them... Thank you busy schedule!
Now, if you are a sucker, you will be disappointed at the 14 hours claim but if you are realistic, you are going to love their staying power! Anyway, on to what I think about these lipsticks!
I'm reviewing two colours today, one is a great spring colour, my favourite, CORAL! The colour is called Stay with me Coral. The other is a great colour for fall or winter or best if you love dark colours, it is called Wine and Forever.
Price:
Rs. 525 for 3.3g
Packaging:
I really love the packaging of these lipsticks as compared to Maybelline's older lipsticks. The coloured tube makes it really easy to find them in my collection!
The bullet itself is narrow and tapering at the end making it easier to control how far the lipstick should go on your lips. ^_^
Smell and Texture:
The Super Stay lipsticks have a slightly odd texture, it is sticky and doesn't move easily once applied. I guess that is the number one factor that makes these lipsticks "Super Stay!" They are also quite matte in texture so you do need a lip balm underneath. The smell is like a synthetic berry smell. Not something I mind as it is pleasant and eventually does fade.
Colours:
Wine and Forever
Wine and Forever, like the name says is a dark brownish plum colour. It's a great shade for winter or an everyday colour for women who love their brown lipsticks! I look pretty Goth with it on, so it isn't my fave choice of shade but I would love to use it on special looks!
Wine and Forever being a dark colour covered up my pigmented lips quite well and also stayed mostly put through a heavy meal.
Overall, not my kind of shade but definitely has great staying power thanks to the formula and the dark colour!
Stay with Me Coral
Stay with Me Coral is a pretty pretty pretty colour! Seeing as it is CORAL, it is obvious I would pick it up! It is a lovely pink based coral, it doesn't last as long as Wine and Forever through heavy meals but lasts through normal snacking. Still, this is a shade I can see myself wearing all through summer!
Stay with Me Coral doesn't have the strong pigmentation that the darker shade has, so it took a few swipes to get the colour even over my pigmented top lip. If you have super dark lips, think about using a lip liner under this shade. Overall, a great shade, just a bit weak on the pigmentation front, so you need a few swipes to get it right.
Performance:
So, lasting power of the Super Stay lipsticks is definitely not 14 hours unless you don't plan to eat for that amount of time, in which case, get some help, you might have an eating disorder. O__o
The lipsticks will last however, through light snacking or full meals depending on the shade.
I had Wine and Forever last over 6 hours with eating and Stay with Me Coral was still on but a faded version of itself after the same amount of time.
So, I think these lipsticks are definitely a boon to the working girl who has no time to check her makeup all the time and definitely great for a forever hungry girl like me!
These lipsticks aren't very good for professional use because the sticky texture will ruin your lip brushes but for personal use, I highly recommend them!
I already picked up another called Infinitely Fuchsia and will definitely be looking at more!
What do you think about the new Superstay lipsticks?
