Review: Sweet Candy Fast Dry Nail Polish #10 from Born Pretty Store

The weather's been all kinds of crazy here this week, from pouring on Sunday to sunny today, it's gone mad!  I really wish it would decide whether it wants to be summer or monsoon! Lol! 

For either season though, I love pastels on my nails! 

I've been painting them everything from mint to peach but my absolute favourite has been this lavender shade from the Sweet Candy Fast Dry Nail Polish Range at Born Pretty Store!

It's a tiny square bottle, the lid matches the colour inside, isn't that cute! And practical too! Imagine a whole bunch of these in different colours together! PURDY!! >w<

The quantity is only 8ml though, that's sad, wish it was bigger! I've already gone through half a bottle in a couple of months! >.<

I love pastels and I love lavender! I go all "Raindrops and roses" over this shade! *u*

And not just because it's a pretty colour! 

This nail polish is really fast drying! And everyone knows that fast drying polish chips with a vengeance! But this one lasts almost 4-5 days with just minor tip wear! ^_^

It doesn't get bubbles or anything like that but my good for nothing top coat sure does! SIGH! I need to buy a new one. >.>

I really want more of these, they have a whole bunch of beautiful shades! From yellows, blues, pinks and peaches, a colour for every outfit, mood or whatever else you pair nail polish with! *u*

My favourite way of wearing this colour is with NYX's Surf (my most loved polish)!

Myntra.com- Clothes and Makeup! Haul and Review

You guys know me, I'm never shy of shopping online! Be it Indian or international, I'm always looking for new stores to throw my money at. ;) 

Myntra has recently become one such site! I was quite surprised that I have never ordered from them before this! Considering they are India's largest shopping websites, have so many awards under their belt for being an amazing e-commerce website and have quite an aggressive ad campaign! 

Oh well, better late than never, eh?

Just for the record, I was contacted by Myntra to do this review a long while ago but thanks to me being super busy and my computer dying on me out of the blue, I didn't get the chance. >.<

I'm glad they haven't freaked out at me yet! ;~;

When I logged into Myntra, the first thing I noticed was that the layout was very clean, young, fun and colourful! All the products were categorised really well, from brand, colour, price, gender and what kind of product it was. This made looking for products very easy!

Of course, I was skimming all the makeup products together, because that's the way I roll! Lol! But in the end found two products I liked, a lipstick and a nailpolish, into the bag they went!

Just for larks I thought I would get a top too, specially for summer! I'm a closet goth or something because most of my clothes are black, I found a mint green top and dropped that into the bag as well.

I completed filling in my details and then waited patiently for my package to arrive! 

Luckily this took only 3 days, which is pretty fast! ^_^

Here's how the package came:

Packed in a plastic bag with the logo of Myntra on it. I have two because they shipped them in two packages.

Inside one was my pretty green top, from the brand Style Quotient, a bit darker than what I had expected but still a purdy colour! ^w^

I was worried about fitting because I'm usually an L or an XL and sometimes even XXL *grumbles* but since Myntra had provided the size specifications perfectly on the site, it fit like a dream!

The little box, which is really pretty by the way had the makeup of course! It was wrapped up tight with bubble wrap!

Turns out, inside the box was a plastic box, separating and protecting both products! A very nice touch right?

The lipstick is Maybelline's SuperStay "Stay with me Coral", it's now OOS on there though. :( And the nail polish is Colorbar's "Riot Red" (love that name!)

I'm really happy with Myntra's service, the delivery was fast and sizing was perfect! I would like them to add more makeup products, rather more colour options to each makeup product! I would also have liked a shipping free option for an amount less than Rs.999. 

But overall, it was a great experience shopping with them and you can find some amazing clothes and accessories there! I would definitely recommend them!

Manicure Monday: You are My Sunshine! ~

Hellooo everyone! I'm in a really perky mood today! ^-^ Although I should probably be sitting in my corner of shame because I officially broke my makeup buying ban. 

 I went to Beauty Center to pick up some hair bleach and developer and I *tried* to avoid the NYX counter, which btw is right at the entrance of the store.. SO, you can't avoid it! Foul temptress!! 
Anyway I tried to be strong! I tried not to buy anything.. BUT they had the Girls Nail polishes for only 120, they usually cost 150-200! Well, there goes my will power! 

I ended up picking up:

L-R: NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Buttery Nude (I'm in love!),
Gilded Glitter, Dark Grey and My Sunshine ^^

I think I'm just going to be buying my NYX stuff from Beauty Center, with the rupee being the way it is, this is probably cheaper now! Not to mention I got a free eye pencil, this time in brown! Hehe!

I used My Sunshine to do my manicure today! I love this yellow! It's not in your face but still cheerful. ♥
My sister said it looks like mustard, I thought of mangoes, my grandma said egg yolks! LOL! Whatever it is, it's pretty! ^-^
I cut my nails recently so they look pretty short in the pictures!

The colour doesn't show up right in pictures, the colour is slightly more orange.. Think egg yolks and mangoes as I said. :>
The colour dries fast and goes opaque in 2-3 coats. Plus no bubbles! Oh joy!

A Late Manicure Monday: Pastel-nail-mania!

I wanted to get this up yesterday but it was family vacation weekend and I got home only in the wee hours of last night so I'm posting today! If you've been a reader of my blog for a long time, you will know I love bright colours, neons even! Especially on my nails. But now and again I like going against my personality traits just to mix it up and put in a pastel here and there.
Truthfully, I have all of 3 pastel colours, probably more if I really search but otherwise I stand by three. So, I thought I'll show them to you one by one.. So here's the first one, a very NOT me, pastel pink. But then, one can't change too much, so here it is with a few coats of NYX's Multi Glitter (which btw is a great dupe for Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday.)

I like Elle 18 polishes! They're cheap at only 50 INR, I can try out colours that I wouldn't buy otherwise. The quality isn't the best though, they will chip around day 2-3.

Manicure Monday: Miss Claire Galore!

Since you already know how much I've been bitching about how much work I've been swamped in, I'm not going to go there again. But due to lack of time I have had the most hideous nails ever! And I didn't want to keep them that way... So, what's the best way to have nail art on the go? Crackle polish of course. :)

One of my favourite crackles is Miss Claire. I hunted through Mumbai for a cheap crackle polish and after encountering prices like 400-500 INR, I was giving up hope, till I found Miss Claire crackle polish at Beauty Center, Khar! Only 150!! *joyful spazzing*

The pink is a normal polish I used for the mani.

This crackle is really good, and it comes in a variety of colours! But since I had already ordered a couple of coloured ones from beautyjoint.com, I decided to go for black.

At first, I applied it and I was a bit disappointed because even with top coat it looked very gray. :( But soon I realised it was because I was using a quick dry top coat, with a normal top coat I found it was the blackest black. And we lived happily ever after!

Pros:

• Good quantity
• Great price
• Doesn't get chunky over time *cough OPI cough*

Cons:

• Stays grey when used with quick dry top coat.

The pink I've used under the crackle is also a Miss Claire colour, same price and officially my favourite pink! It's slightly neon and chips only after 4 days, miraculous for someone like me! I've also used it in this cute manicure. ^u^

Hauls for March and Beautyjoint.com Review

I thought I would do a post for all the make up that I bought in March because I had been on hiatus for awhile and didn't get to share the stuff I got. Plus, this way if you guys want any reviews from any of this stuff, you can comment below or on my Facebook page and let me know!

Yesterday an order I made from Beauty Joint arrived, my brilliant mailman just crammed the package into my letter slot! I don't even know how he managed! Anyway, I really recommend shopping with Beauty Joint! They have great brands like NYX, Kleancolor, China Glaze, ELF etc! And they ship the very next day. :)

My order arrived in less than a month! Plus, the wrapping was great! In fact I think everything was packaged a bit too well! Lol! Took me awhile to open it all. -__- Their customer service is really good too! They reply to mails almost immediately. :)

All very "Springy" colours

I got two Cherimoya Crackle polishes in Immortal (the pink) and Flashback (the purple), I also got NYX's round lipstick in Haute Melon! I've been wanting this colour for soo long now! Another thing I got was NYX's matte lipstick in Angel, I love this colour! It is so pretty! I've heard it's a dupe for MAC's Impassioned but I don't know...

Remember I had told you I bought some stuff from Beauty Center as well? Well, here it is!

Mad about Matte Nails: Review

Ah, one of my many many lemmings, matte nail polish! I've seen so many hands rocking it all over the interwebz, I had to get myself some of that action!
I looked up all the online make-up stores like a woman possessed and overall found any of these:

1. Matte polishes in various colours
2. A matte finisher polish
3. Absolutely nothing

So, I had a choice between coloured polishes or the finisher, which was pretty expensive. But after weighing it out, I went with the finisher. (I'm sooo not living up to my "Beauty and the Cheap" name after this..)

I got Essie's Matte About You, matte finisher. *Le sigh* It cost INR 560. -__-

BUT, I still stand by my decision to choose this over the coloured polishes, the main reason being, I can put it over any colour I want and have matte nails!

Plus, you need such a small amount, it will last forever! I will make it last forever! *determined*

I love the look of matte flakies, so that is exactly what I went with. :) I used Maybelline Colorama Marinho as base and used NYX's Pink Ave for the flakes and then put the matte finisher.

Right after application

There are some things I noticed about this polish.

• The finisher will lighten the colour of the polish very slightly.
• The matte finish will start becoming satin like over a few days. After all the oil in your hair, in your potato chips and moisturiser is going to go SOMEWHERE! 
• As opposed to what I've heard about matte polishes chipping almost immediately, this lasted all of 5 days without chips. :) 
• I love the feeling of matte polish! I just kept running my fingers over my nails because of the texture. LOL!

Don't you love how glowy the flakies look? I can't wait to try it over Purple Ave!

After Day 4 they looked like this:

The index and middle finger nails are almost shiny whereas the hardly used little finger nail is still pretty matte.

Overall, I think if you're going to be wearing matte nails a lot, this is a good investment! As guilty as I feel buying this, I think I'll be getting good use out of it. But if you want to dabble in mattes just to try them out, get a bottle of the coloured polishes. They're half the price! You can find both topcoats as well as coloured polishes at stylecraze.com. I bought my Essie matte finisher at 365gorgeous.in.

Inspired Nail Art

Hey guys, this is going to be a short post, I've been swimming in work and haven't slept in 2 days, I'm at that stage of sleepless-ness where I start believing I'm some kind of flying hippo or that the voices in my head want me to eat a bottle of ketchup.

Anyway, yesterday, in my free time I was going through an awesome and popular nail art blog called Cosmetic Cupcake and I found some great designs, so I decided to try one of them.
This is the original design here.

And this is what I did.

I realise mine isn't as finished, I didn't have the same tools and my cuticles look like I've been sifting sand everyday in the past week but I think I did good. :D

Here's what I used:

I used Elle 18 nail pops "26" on my thumb and ring finger. Colorama black polish on my index and pinky fingers. VOV knock-off white on my middle finger.
I used the center design from M36 Konad plate over the white, with Colorama Roxo Metalico put a few silver dots with NYX's nail art polish and put white dots with a nail art pen.
On my ring finger I used Jordana pop art striper polish in The Painter (pink sparkles) all over the nail.
And the last step I used Faces Sparkles polish over all my nails.

First Flakie Nail Polish! Review and Cosmetix.in Experience

So here's the thing, I'd been watching bloggers all over the world raving about flakie polishes and I adore the way they look! Problem is, I haven't seen one flakie polish in stores.. Not ONE! And if there are any out there, I swear, there's a conspiracy to keep them away from me.

I felt like my nail art stash is missing something. Like I'd been left out of a playground game by all the mean kids. *flashback sobs*

Yes, this is relevant.

Then a few days ago I was going through a shopping site I hadn't used before called Cosmetix.in, I decided to investigate and ended up in the nail polish category. There under NYX I found a polish called "Purple Ave." I don't trust site swatches so I googled it and (cue: Handel's Hallelujah) it was a FLAKIE!! *happy tears*

Obviously, I bought it. It was Rs. 210 after discount. Along with Maybelline's Hyper Curl mascara and a purple eye pencil. Guess how fast  shipping was....
Think: Speed of light... Ok, lets be fair.. Speed of sound, if it didn't work weekends! Yes, FAST!
I ordered on Sunday, it was shipped on Monday and got to me at 11am Tuesday.

Amazing!

Only there was a problem... Instead of sending me "39 Purple Ave," I was sent "139 Paradise." That's that guy down there... *SOBS*

Who knew a polish could make you cry?

So, I sent them an email telling them what had happened and I got an instant reply! How cool is that?? They told me that they would send me Purple Ave and that I could keep Paradise too! SCORE!! No, but seriously, how nice is that?  Because 23 hours later at 10:30 am, Tuesday, I got my Purple Ave! And here it is.

Happiness IS at the bottom of a bottle!

I don't know why it's called Purple, because the flakes are actually more blue-green. But I love the glowy hypnotic look of it. @-@
Apparently, there are more in this series, like Pink, Peach and Blue Ave. According to many reviews, the older versions of these were not very good and the flakes were too big and hard to get out of the bottle. BUT the new formula is awesome! Very concentrated flakes and fast drying! In fact, I've already ordered Pink Ave from Urbantouch! They also have Peach Ave. ^u^ (Cosmetix has it for cheaper though. -__-)

Curb Depression, Buy Make-up :D

Hey there readers! My sister and I went to Phoenix Mills today, we were originally looking for clothes, shoes and the sort but then the Sunday mall rush just got us both down, there were lines everywhere, from the trial rooms to the loos! Seriously, holding it during a sale should be considered an art. D: 

So, we just ended up browsing and bought a minimal amount of things, my sister bought a pair of pants and I bought some undies and in the words of my socially awkward boyfriend,”boob-holders.” You can see why he would be socially awkward. -__-

And of course, since I was feeling blue about not having bought any pretty clothes or baubles, I decided to compensate for the emptiness of my carry bags with make-up. J

So here’s what I bought:

Maybelline Colorsensational lipstick in 'Hooked on Pink' and Moisture Extreme in 'Natural Rosewood'

The Natural Rosewood shade is darker than what I would usually wear, actually both these shades are much darker than my usual pink-peach choices. Hooked on Pink has a lot of carmine and mauve and N.R. has a lot more brown than I'm used to. But I found these two shades to be really pretty and I see myself wearing them on a regular basis. :D 

Got both for Rs.461 together because of the sale and my membership card. :)

BAHAHAHA! BB Cream!! Finally! *happy dance*

YES! Finally the BB cream is here! I actually went to the counter at Pantaloons to buy JUST this! I'm so happy. *sniff* And I tried it this evening and seriously, it is ah-mazing! It evens out my skin tone and reduces pores, like that! *snaps fingers*

Also, following the tradition of many Korean BB creams, it has a mega huge-ass name!

Clear Glow Bright Benefit Cream, the 8-in-1 Skin Transformer. Lol!

I want to try more BB creams, maybe Skin79? I tried the TBS one today and it seemed so meh compared to this one! Also this one is 199Rs. (169 on sale.) TBS bb is 1140Rs. -____-

Cute Bag  >w<

Lol! I saw this bag at the counter and I thought it was really cute, I don't know whether it is a promotional thing or the sales guy was just being nice because he couldn't bare seeing me stare at it longingly (not really... *shifty eyes*) but he gave me my stuff in the bag and I was like,"Oh! I get the bag? *big smile*" Sales guy,"Yes, ma'am! *big smile*" 

I may have had puppy eyes... may have....

Faces Nailpolishes 

Eye Magic and how!

I went into the Faces shop at Phoenix today for the first time and I was impressed and yet kind of disappointed lol! 

They had a large collection of stuff but most of it was out of stock, so I ended up just picking up these polishes in Brown Wood, Atomic Orange and Sparkles and something called Eye Magic transforming eye gel, which is pretty kick-ass! It's a gel that makes your eye shadows and liners waterproof and long lasting, kind of like a primer. It also helps you use your eyeshadows and glitters as liners! Only Rs.300. :) And it really works! They have a similar thing for lipsticks which I might buy next time.

These colours were just what I needed! A bright pink and a vampy dark burgundy. ^-^b  Love!!~ Rs.150 each!

And that's it! Lots of polishes as you can see. :) I don't know which of these to review first, the BB cream or the eye gel.. HELP! Give me your opinions. :) And sorry if I ramble in my posts. I love to type, apparently. :P
