Quick and Easy Neutral to Colour Makeup Tutorial

Hey guys, I've been wanting to do a tutorial for a while now and it really has been so long!
I was busy with classes and had to keep delaying editing images. >.<

But finally I've got the chance to do a tutorial for a look that I did in one of the shoot I worked in.
I had initially done a neutral eye using my Urban Decay Naked palette. Yes! I FINALLY GOT ONE! And I will review it soon if you're interested!

Anyway, so I had to change up the look later for the second part of the shoot and I didn't have much time so this is what I came up with:

That image i a bit small but basically I added some purple, green and gold to the eyes and changed the lips. Took me all of 15 minutes really with other touch ups!
This is a great way to do up your makeup from day to night or when you're in a hurry.

All you need is:

  • A neutral palette for the neutral day look. (Maybelline Chai Latte or Revlon Copper Spice are good options.)
  • Any coloured long lasting eye pencils. I used Faces Longwear. (Colorbar I-Glides or Ikonic are also good!)
  • Black and white pencils if you want
  • Mascara and fake lashes (optional)
  • Smudger brush/ qtips

Step 1:
Start with whatever neutral eye makeup you want, it can even be just a wash of a neutral shimmer or gold colour. I'm going to roughly replicate what I did for my model:

Step 2:
I applied a purple eye pencil from Faces to my outer V and lower lid.

Step 3:
Use a qtip or smudger/ pencil brush to blend out the edges. Remember to work fast since long lasting pencils set super fast! D:

Step 4:
Now, you can leave it at just one colour but for this look I used green as well on the upper lid.

Step 5:
Smudge it up GOOOD! Lol!

Just keep repeating the two steps till you have something you're happy with! ^_^

Final look:

I used a little white pencil on the inner corner too. ^_^
Easy eh?

I hope this tutorial helped you a bit, I feel like it is a bit redundant but I'm sure you'll be able to use it in a hurry.
I also did this tutorial for girls who have a hard time with makeup and are just beginning.
Most girls don't have colours in eyeshadow but are bound to have some colour pencils right? ^u^

How Much Does My Face Cost?

I found this really interesting post on The Mod Mermaid's blog. It's an eye opener for me as to how much I spend on my everyday makeup. I haven't calculated yet, I'm going to calculate as I go about this post. I don't think it will be a lot though, since I usually use lower priced brands, but lets see shall we?

This is my everyday makeup, give or take.. Sometimes I like to change the eyeshadow, lipstick or blush, but usually, this is my look, when I'm completely uninspired. (Sans lenses of course..)

These are my usual makeup products, they tend to change by season, but this is what they are *now*.

  • The Body Shop Oil Free Balancing Foundation- Rs. 1140 (It would have been Rs.180 if I had been using my Maybelline BB cream.. Oh well!)
  • Maybelline Dream Matte Powder- Rs.475
  • Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer- Rs.460
  • NYX Cream blush "Natural"- Rs. 520
  • Faces Eye Magic gel (primer)- Rs.315
  • Revlon Colorstay "Coffee Bean" quad (gift)- Rs.650 (?)
  • Maybelline Eyestudio mono "Iced Fudge"- AUD 12.95 (Rs.750, WHAT? SERIOUSLY?!)
  • Maybelline Colossal Kajal- Rs.150
  • Maybelline Colossal Volum' mascara- Rs.200
  • Color Bar Velvet matte lipstick "Bare"- Rs. 225
  • NYX Xtreme Lip Cream "Buttery Nude"- Rs.380
Total (I don't want to know! >.>): Rs.5265 (95$)
I don't even... That's insane! With almost all drugstore makeup, my face costs that much! *jaw drop* I wonder what people who use all MAC etc have their faces costing. :/
Anyway, I hope you will try this tag too!

Creative Makeup Challenge Day 1: Lace Makeup Look

I've been wanting to do this challenge for sooo long now! I had found it on another blog a long time ago and now finally have the time to go ahead with it!
This is a 30 day challenge and I'll be updating everyday except weekends. I'm so excited!!

Today is Day 1: Lace Makeup Look

I used Maybelline Eye Studio liquid eye liner to draw the lace. I wish I had the pen liners you get, it would have looked much neater than this. :( But it was fun to do! ^u^ I used Faces lipstick in "French Rose" as well on my lips of course!
Tried bronzer for the first time ever.. Meh..

My "I'mma kill you!" face
I didn't want to do symmetrical designs because drawing on my own face was asking for fail anyway! LOL!

What do you think of my Lace Makeup Look? You can try this challenge too! I'll post all the days in the pages tab for y'all!

See ya!

Sparkle Sparkle~ Faces Sparkle Dust- 256 "Frolic" Review

Hi all! Today I'm going to be reviewing something very pretty! Oh so pretty~~ *Ahem* Yes.. It's the Faces Sparkledust Stackable in Frolic.

I've always wanted to try pigments but I didn't want to spend a lot on something like MAC Melon (which I really want! ;n;) just to realise i would never use it.. So I decided to buy some inexpensive pigments, see what I feel about them and then get more. So I decided to buy one of the Faces Stackable Sparkledusts. You get these in individul jars too but I wanted some variety. LOL!

Facts about Faces: Faces is a brand from Canada, they were established in 1974 and their pricing is amazing! Took them long enough to come to India. -__-

Price: These are around 549 INR but I got them for 466 in Beauty center Khar.

Packaging: The entire package looks like this.

You can get these in sets of 5 or 8.
The packaging is nice but I feel like the plastic is too flimsy and brittle. So, i'm always afraid that it's gonna break. :/
I like that being a stack, its easy to carry and all that but it is annoying to screw and unscrew each jar, plus there are more chances of it falling, considering the high center of gravity. *adjusts faux geek glasses*

The jars aren't big, they probably hold one and a half teaspoon of pigment, but I like the fact that they are small. Otherwise you get a huge jar and it never gets over!

The Colours: The pigments are VERY shimmery, each and every one of them! I'm not a fan of shimmer but I don't mind it here and there. Problem is when you want to use them dry, they cause a lot of fallout (as all pigments would.) So even if you clean them off, a bit of the shimmer remains. >.<
You have to wear your foundation aftr you use these or use a tissue for fallout.

The colours look brilliant used wet although I find the green and blue a bit too similar. There are quite a few of these sets and they all have some colours that coincide, so search a bit and find ones with unique colours.

Red: Has gold shimmers, very dark

Has blue(ish) shimmers, not my favourite!

Pink: my favourite! Has purple and pink shimmer

Blue/ Teal: Another favourite! has gold shimmer, gives it a multidimensional quality.

White duochrome: Shines pink and gold according to the light.
Swatches: *click for larger images*
No flash

Flash
Isn't that white so pretty with its gold and pink duo goodness! *o*

EOTD:

Not my best EOTD! Sorry... ;n;
I used the white in the inner corner, blue in the center and pink on the outer v. I also used NYC jumbo pencil in Milk, Bourjois Clubbing Contour pencil in "Blue Remix" and Colossal kajal an mascara. :3

Overall:
I feel that this is a good buy for someone who wants to try pigments like I did. I just wish the plastic was less brittle and they had a few no shimmer colours, but then they really wouldn't be "sparkle dust." As I said, I'm not big on the shimmer. LOL!

EDIT: My SkincareRx giftcard giveaway is now closed, i'll be announcing the winner in a couple of days! Good luck everyone! ^-^

Faces Eye Magic, Transforming Eye Gel Review

You know what really stands out when I read the name of this product? MAGIC. Yes, it really is! Just from that, you know this review i going to be a really positive one. LOL! Seriously, this stuff is aah-mazing! But wait, you're probably thinking WTF is this stuff? D: So, let me explain:

Eye Magic is *supposed* to be a gel that turns all your liners, shadows and pigments into water proof, smudge proof liners. THAT is the main objective... BUT, I didn't think it was magic for that reason, it does that reasonably well but something like Duraline by Inglot looks much better.

What this baby is amazing for, is for being a seriously, super kickass eyeshadow primer!
Yes, at Rs.315, it is the cheapest and the most "magical" primer you will find.
"My mommy says I'm special."
Here are some swatches I did with it:

My chalkiest shadows: Right has the Eye magic
Random shadows: Eyemagic on the left

Same as above, rubbed hard with towel.
Not bad right? But wait some more! Yes, I know I sound like a salesperson on TV. -__-
Anyway, the ULTIMATE TEST!
I did my eyes and then spent the next hour and a half scrubbing the bathrooms.. So water, detergent, sweat was everywhere! Lets see what happened then. :D

Fresh make up

Make up after laborious house work
It didn't crease, spread or disappear after scrubbing LOOS! What other reasons do you need? GO AND BUY IT! LOL!

Even the swatch on my hand still remained after scrubbing.

Even though I say buy it and I will totally buy it again, I'm going to do a pros and cons list:

Pros:

  • Good for priming eyes
  • No creasing
  • Doesn't let make up spread or disappear
  • Makes colours more vivid
  • Great value for money
  • Bottle will last forever, you only need a drop.
Cons:
  • Not available everywhere, I've seen it at the Faces store, not at counters, you might if you're lucky.
  • Not a good transforming gel. I.e. Not so great at turning your eyeshadows into liners and such.
Verdict: Will definitely buy again if I have to!

If you liked my eye look, it was one I did for a wedding a few days ago, if you want to know how I did it, check out my tutorial. Bye!

A Hunting We Will Go... For Make-up!

Yesterday, I went out to Bandra and Khar, looking for shops that sell make-up. I was also noting down brands that they have. I'm thinking, I'll create a little guide for shopping in Mumbai. What do you girls think?

I did buy some stuff but not as much as I would have wanted to. For two reasons, I'm a bit financially deficient this month, I'm trying to save up. :( And reason 2 is that I had a cranky boyfriend tagging along! LOL!

So, this is just a haul post, what I bought and some stuff I got online. From Cosmetix.in. I really wish they would update their stock! They have such great prices. T^T I even did a review on the site before.

From cosmetix.in:
NYX powder blush in Spice, I'm in love with a blush!

Faces Satin Matte Lipstick Magenta

I'm also in love with a lipstick! Addis Ababa dupe btw! That's why I wanted it.
The blush was Rs.390 (OP: 650!), the lipstick was Rs. 233 (OP: 299) and I got a Colossal Kajal which was Rs. 137 (150). I go through those kajals so fast. :(

From my shopping trip:
Miss Claire Polishes, China Glaze Prismatic Collection: Liquid Crystal, Maybelline Eyestudio liquid liner, Body Shop  Spiced Vanilla lip balm

I can't believe I found China Glaze! Squee!!! I found it at Beauty Forever, a shop in Pali Market, Bandra. Rs. 375! :D Not bad right? And that lip balm I have been looking for, in every TBS forever! Finally I found it! It smells like carrot cake! I love it to tears. T~T

The Miss Claire polishes: Rs.150 each, China Glaze polish: Rs.375, Maybelline Eyestudio Line Allure liner: Rs. 180 (200) and TBS lip balm in Spiced Vanilla: Rs. 340 (I don't remember the discount price.)

I would also like to introduce you to my new baby, well, water baby. :) I think he wants to kill me! He makes bitey faces while zooming around my finger.. It looks like he's saying," Stupid hoomin, get me out of this force-field!" He wouldn't sit still, so that's the best picture I got.
Say hi to Spazzypants McGee!

I'm sorry for the short post today, I'm busy with cooking dinner because my grandmum isn't feeling well today. Tomorrow, I have my Arabian Nights look tutorial coming though, I hope you will enjoy it!
See ya!
