Neon Lips Rock! Colorbar True Gloss in Pink Stain

It's winter now, all my bright lipsticks are at the back of the makeup drawer with all the nudes, reds and raspberries up in the front. This colour too right now, is sitting somewhere at the back waiting for spring but I decided to review it for you guys now, so you know what to buy for your summer stash! ;)

Price:

Rs. 495 (Cheaper online) for 3.8 ml

Packaging:

The packaging is typical of Colorbar, the outer cardboard box is the usual silver, the tube is long and transparent so you can see how much product is in there, which is great, it also makes you go "gimme" at the store looking at all the bright colours... Which is not so great. -__-

The wand too, is really long and I feel like it makes it easy to apply. ^_^

The bottom of the tube has the name on it so it's easy to find the colour you want, although the tube being transparent helps anyway. 

Colour, Smell and Texture:

It smells YUM. That is all. Seriously, it's vanilla-ish smell I guess? Very sweet. Can't pin point exactly what it is. But it smell good. 

The texture is basically a lipstick melted down and poured into a lip gloss tube. I think I actually own that lipstick too! Lol!

The colour is a lovely warm pinky red, at least on me. It looks almost exactly like my NYX round lipstick in Fire, except it is really (X3) glossy!

You can see that Pink Stain is way glossier than Fire but both are essentially almost the same colour.

Lasting Power:

And then some! Colorbar's Pink Stain is the longest lasting gloss I've ever used. 6-8 hours is average time for this colour to stay on your lips. 

In the lip swatches you can see the last pic looks all messy, this is because even though it will stay on through a meal, it will also decide to stay on the rest of your face. It does move around and not budge, so check your mirror after you eat!

My lips are horribly chapped btw, that's another great thing about these glosses, it won't show! At least not till the glossy effect lasts. Once that's gone, hello chappy!

Do I recommend this? Maybe not this colour because you can get NYX Fire for cheaper and it's not a everyday colour.

 But there are some lovely shades I do want to pick up. They have pretty corals and nudes too, you can wear them to office and have them last the whole day, who doesn't want that right?

If you're scared of wearing these full on, since you know, the brightness might get you arrested for disrupting traffic, you can wear it as a stain too!

Just be careful when you eat, so it doesn't get on your face.

Otherwise, this is a brilliant product by Colorbar, kinda like the NYX Xtreme Lip Creams but lasts longer, much longer. And them colours. *o*

So, yeah.

NYX Femme and Sleek Coral Reef: A Dupetastic Lipstick Review!

I know a lot of you know my love for the colour coral. I have numerous clothes, nail polishes, blushes, lipsticks and even an eye shadow in the colour. I'm so smitten with it, I get mesmerised by just the word "coral" and buy whatever makeup product that bears it.

NYX Femme and Coral Reef from Sleek Makeup's True Colour line were the same. I bought Femme after looking at countless beautiful swatches online and I bought Coral Reef after reading the name! LOL! Sounds stupid I know! But it was worth it.
I got Femme from Stylecraze.com, and I got Coral Reef from a blog sale. When I got Coral Reef I realised that Femme might be a dupe for it! Today I finally got the chance to swatch the two and *dingdingding* THEY ARE! :D

Lets do a comparision shall we?

Colour and texture:
Both colours are a hot coral colour but Femme is a little more to the orange side while Coral Reef has a little bit of a neonish quality and also leans towards pink. If you wear them though, you wont even know the difference!
Coral reef's texture is ever so slightly smoother than Femme's. It also goes on more opaque in the first swipe as compared to Femme. Both tend to settle in the lines though. :/

Size/ Packaging:
Femme comes in the usual NYX round lipstick tube, whereas Coral Reef comes in a small tube which is rubberized. It's cute but a fingerprint magnet! The amount of product in the round lipstick in 4gm and Sleek has 3.5gm. It's a small difference, I was expecting Coral Reef to be a mini lipstick, looking at the size!

Smell: Femme has a typical lipsticky smell, kinda soapy. No biggie! But Coral Reef OMG! I can't even begin to say how bad the smell is! It's like medication!
The dog below is the best example of the face I make every time I smell it. EVERY TIME! (He isn't my dog btw! Just a doggie from le Google..)

Price and availability:

Sleek's Truecolour lipsticks sell for 6$ plus a hefty shipping charge to India and can only be found at Sleek's website, as far as I know. NYX can be found in stores here but colours are limited. On Indian sites you can get them for around 300 INR and from sites abroad for around 2$ plus shipping.

Overall: 

I think Coral Reef is an amazing colour but I probably will not buy again unless I finish both of these lipsticks. Plus I would have to wait for our stupid currency to go up a bit. I'm not paying 55 INR to the dollar, thanks! Femme I am likelier to buy again just because it is relatively more easy to find.

So, if you've been lemming on Coral Reef for a while, definitely try looking for Femme, they're almost the same. :)

A Mini Naked Palette: The Maybelline Chai Latte quad

Yes ladies, it is BACK! I don't know when it came back but when I walked into Westside two days ago, The Maybelline Chai Latte (Modern Metallics) quad was sitting right there on the Maybelline counter waiting for me to grab it.
At first, I was wary because I knew this quad had been MIA for the longest time, so I asked the nice lady at the counter and she told me that it had been put in stock again. :D

For me, this Chai Latte really is a mini Naked palette, if you can't afford the Naked palette in your wildest dreams, go for this! Rs.240 is an extremely small amount to pay for a good quality eyeshadow quad. Sure you're missing 8 shades from Naked but something's better than nothing!

Seriously, if you look up swatches of Naked, you will find them eerily similar! Dupes almost!

• Top left reminds me of Virgin
• Top right of Toasted
• Bottom Right of Tease (from N2) maybe a tad darker
• And the bottom one could pass off as Smog

I found this quad way more pigmented than the Maybelline Diamond Glow By Eye Studio, that one sucked, BAD!
The packaging is flimsy, the lid got scratched up in my makeup bag, the day I brought it home. And the first time using it, the lid came off.. Plus the brushes are not really usable. *Sigh* But then.. Rs. 240! So, I'm not complaining.

As with most shadows, this one lasts really long and looks more vibrant with primer, I'm in love with the copper shade that is numbered for the lid (top right.)

Here are some looks I tried with it, the first one is your run of the mill, office/ daily eye look:

Then I decided to get a little creative and use my new Bourjois Contour Clubbing Waterproof eyepencil in Blue Remix (review soon) predominantly with the copper shade and I got this:

This has become one of my most favourite looks. I hope you like it too! I didn't use any blue shadow, only the pencil and smudged it. If you girls are interested, I would love to do a tuorial on the look. :)

Overall, I give this quad an A, even with crappy packaging, the colours are well pigmented and you feel like you own a little part of the Naked Palette, always a good feeling! So, defnitely go out and get this palette!

A Late Manicure Monday: Pastel-nail-mania!

I wanted to get this up yesterday but it was family vacation weekend and I got home only in the wee hours of last night so I'm posting today! If you've been a reader of my blog for a long time, you will know I love bright colours, neons even! Especially on my nails. But now and again I like going against my personality traits just to mix it up and put in a pastel here and there.
Truthfully, I have all of 3 pastel colours, probably more if I really search but otherwise I stand by three. So, I thought I'll show them to you one by one.. So here's the first one, a very NOT me, pastel pink. But then, one can't change too much, so here it is with a few coats of NYX's Multi Glitter (which btw is a great dupe for Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday.)

I like Elle 18 polishes! They're cheap at only 50 INR, I can try out colours that I wouldn't buy otherwise. The quality isn't the best though, they will chip around day 2-3.

A Hunting We Will Go... For Make-up!

Yesterday, I went out to Bandra and Khar, looking for shops that sell make-up. I was also noting down brands that they have. I'm thinking, I'll create a little guide for shopping in Mumbai. What do you girls think?

I did buy some stuff but not as much as I would have wanted to. For two reasons, I'm a bit financially deficient this month, I'm trying to save up. :( And reason 2 is that I had a cranky boyfriend tagging along! LOL!

I'm also in love with a lipstick! Addis Ababa dupe btw! That's why I wanted it.

The blush was Rs.390 (OP: 650!), the lipstick was Rs. 233 (OP: 299) and I got a Colossal Kajal which was Rs. 137 (150). I go through those kajals so fast. :(

I can't believe I found China Glaze! Squee!!! I found it at Beauty Forever, a shop in Pali Market, Bandra. Rs. 375! :D Not bad right? And that lip balm I have been looking for, in every TBS forever! Finally I found it! It smells like carrot cake! I love it to tears. T~T

The Miss Claire polishes: Rs.150 each, China Glaze polish: Rs.375, Maybelline Eyestudio Line Allure liner: Rs. 180 (200) and TBS lip balm in Spiced Vanilla: Rs. 340 (I don't remember the discount price.)


I would also like to introduce you to my new baby, well, water baby. :) I think he wants to kill me! He makes bitey faces while zooming around my finger.. It looks like he's saying," Stupid hoomin, get me out of this force-field!" He wouldn't sit still, so that's the best picture I got.
