She's a Little Bit Dangerous: MAC Lady Danger Lipstick Review

Everytime I looked, she was never there, but I finally found her! Last week, I managed to take her home with me...
Lol! I wonder how many reviews for MAC's Lady Danger lipstick start that way? Like a bad romantic drama.. Seriously though, everytime for two months, I would walk into my favourite MAC store and Lady Danger was always out of stock.
I tried to replace her with So Chaud because Bharti from Crazy Pop Lock would rave about it buuut that didn't work too well. So Chaud looked really yellow- orange on me and made me look like I was a grey old woman who chewed paan. :/

Then when I heard Scarlet Ibis (a great dupe) was being released with the Marilyn Monroe collection, I went to check it out, only to find no Scarlet Ibis but Lady Danger, sitting there in that rack yelling
"BUY ME NOW."
And so I did! ^_^
And I've been gushing about it on my Instagram since then!

Price:
Rs.990

Packaging:
Do I really have to explain this? Everyone knows what MAC looks like! Lol! Standard black and silver bullet with the name on the bottom. :)

Colour, Smell and Texture:
The colour is the most vibrant yellow based red I have ever seen! That's what drew me to it in the first place. Bold and bright are the only words I can think of for this shade, maybe a little crazy too! As soon as you put on Lady Danger you become her! Not even kidding..
There is a super boost in confidence levels when wearing this colour, literally over 9000!
If you ever have to take care of business *cracks knuckles* wear this shade.

The smell is the standard MAC vanilla fragrance and I love the texture. Lady Danger is a matte shade but it isn't drying like most mattes.

No other red in my lipstick collection compares to the Lady.

Performance:
As I said, Lady Danger is a matte (as any shade like this should be!) but I actually managed to wear it without a lip balm with no issues. I do find that my lips flake after a while with or without lip balm though. This colour lasted an entire afternoon on me but as soon as I dug into my creamy chicken sandwich, chilly garlic fries and brownies it was almost gone. So yes, retouching is needed.
Another thing is as with all red lipsticks, a lip liner is needed so you don't look like a vampire who's just had a Happy Meal by the end of the day. -__-

Do I recommend? Only if you have no issues with bright bold statement lips.
So it flakes and bleeds a bit.. Big whoop!
STILL LOVE IT.
STILL THINK EVERY WOMAN SHOULD BUY IT.

 Side effects may include:
Lipstick induced awesomeness, instant empowerment, confidence to kick butt, urge to take over the world in your heels and continuous humming of this song:

So, do you love Lady Danger like I do? *makes out with lipstick* or do you have another colour that boosts your confidence sky high? Let me know!

It's much brighter than this but this was the best I could do. :/ The arm swatch is most accurate.
Hope you enjoyed my first ever (yes 5 MAC lipsticks and this is the first ever) MAC lipstick review!
Ta!

Edit:
Also thought I'd share this with you because funny/scary story.
My boyfriend and I had our 4 year anniversary on the 26th, we decided to do a good deed and donate blood.
Yeah well, as usual they couldn't find my vein, that really annoys me, and makes me black out when they dig around for it. x(
Then he had to adjust the bag and needle every few seconds which was painful in it's own magical way. Lol!
And then when we were done, I had to fold my arm, as you do, for ten minutes... When that was done, he gave me a band-aid.
Five seconds after he put it o, the blood started gushing out from under it, atleast 3-4 tablespoons. I started laughing, I know that's weird! Lol! That's how I cope with strange things. :P
So they finally fixed it and now I have this to remind me of my good deed. ;)..
Warning: Kinda gross...

I would still do it again though! Lol!

Korean Makeup Review: BRTC Gold Caviar BB cream

This is my second Korean makeup review, the first being Etude House’s Sweet Cupcake eyeshadow review. I also want to say that this is my second BB cream review but I won’t. Reason?
The first BB cream reviewed by me was NOT a BB cream. It was Maybelline’s BB cream, which as much as I love, I can safely say, it is not what makes a BB cream at all. Maybe tinted moisturizer is the right term.

This here though, BRTC’s Gold Caviar BB cream, is the real deal!

About BRTC:
BRTC stands for Bio Remedies Therapeutic Cosmetics. It is a Korean company certified by the KFDA and is compliant with FDA rules. They say that they are Korea’s premium brand of botanical skincare and medical grade of BB Creams.  I can totally see why. Their innovative Science meets Nature ingredients have really blown me away.
The Gold Caviar BB cream is great for:

  • Dry skin
  • Dark, worn out skin
  • Aged skin with low resilience
  • Skin that needs constant nutrition
  • All skin types that need vivid and healthy presentation.

Apart that it also has an Optimal Cover Rx, which soothes and repairs sun skin damage and it has a special Tannin Pore Complex to reduce pores.
That and the fact that it has a SPF of 50 was the main reason I decided to try it! :D

Ingredients:

Customer Service:
The customer service at BRTC was very fast. Replies were given in 24 hours or less and even shipping was speedy! I had my package in 15-20 days by first class mail all the way from the USA. ^_^

Price:  $28 for 35 ml.

Packaging:

The tube

The BB cream comes in a blue and silver squeeze tube which has a sealed nozzle.
The packaging of BRTC’s BB creams is very professional and medical looking. It doesn't conform with other Korean brands that try to exude a cute or pretty image in their packaging. I feel like it gives them a mature and trustworthy image. The packaging to me, even though I am a lover of cute things, shows they mean business!
Hygienically sealed nozzle

Colour, Smell and Texture:
The Gold Caviar BB cream is pretty thick, like glue. I was afraid that it would be a pain to blend but I was so wrong! It blends like a dream although you have to work fast otherwise it’s going to stick and not budge.  You don't require a lot, a pea sized amount covers the whole face. :)
I can’t explain the smell of this stuff, it is a medicinal, yet flowery smell. Not appealing to me but bearable.
The colour is beige with a slight pink tone. There is only one shade so it can be a problem for people with duskier skin tones.
Swatch: Unblended and slightly blended

Laurel from the store advised me to mix it with my regular foundation if it was too light; lucky for me it was just right for my skin tone. Initially it has a whitish cast but it settles in a few minutes to match my skin!

Efficacy:
This BB cream promises SO many things I don’t know where to start, so I’m just going to tell you my experience and compare it to what the cream says.

As you can see from my very embarrassingly zoomed in untouched skin pictures, I have really big pores, dark post acne spots, under eye circles and redness around my nose, plus a few small blemishes. -__-
This is my bad side! Lol! I think I get those blemishes from sleeping on my right side too much.

My skin: What it looks like REALLY up close!

The first layer of BB cream definitely covered my redness well. It also managed to cover my pores and dark circles to a certain extent.
The second layer hid my pores some more, I know in the photo they still look pretty big but you have to understand that, that image is VERY upclose. From a distance, they were barely visible! The lines under my eyes were “plumped” out to some extent. I need more sleep, jeez…

Lasting Power and Finish:
The Gold Caviar BB cream did NOT make my skin look overly oily, not more than it usually gets, even though it is a very rich and moisturizing cream. It has a dewy finish but powder can take care of that.
No photoshop! :D Only the magic of BRTC's BB cream and powder!

This stuff lasts for hours! In fact, don’t work fast enough and it won’t even budge to blend. It doesn't come off on tissue when I wipe off sweat and neither on the nose piece of my glasses, which always get covered with gunk from foundation! It comes off when YOU want it to come off.

No sliding off! Even on my glasses! :D
Use a strong cleanser because otherwise it will not leave your face.

Overall:
I am very pleased with the Gold Caviar BB cream, it delivers what it promises. I can see my pores look smaller and redness disappear. The lines on my face, though not many, seem filled, I have more than adequate sun protection and my dark spots seem lightened too.
My simple mind doesn't understand how gold and caviar work together but I do know that they make this BB cream awesome! And I plan to use it for a long time because can see how well my skin does with it on and hopefully I’ll see some long term improvement as well! :D

Hope you enjoyed this review! Do check out BRTC store for the Gold Caviar BB cream and other awesome futuristic skin products!

Review: Sleek i-Divine 2012 Limited Edition (Glory) Palette

Remember I had won Sleek's Facebook giveaway and won their Limited Edition Collection? :D Well, I actually wanted to keep it closed and locked away because it was so pretty! I still haven't used the blush or pout polish! LOL! But I thought I should do a review on these soon since it is a LE collection and maybe some of you might like to buy it before it's gone. :) So, I hope this review helps you decide whether you want to get the i-Divine Glory palette! This is my first Sleek eyeshadow palette, so I hope I can do this review some justice. LOL!

Description: The 2012 collection i-Divine in Glory is jam packed with colours that will pop on all skin tones. The top row of the palette consists of highly pigmented shimmering gold, bronze and silver shades, with a contrasting bottom row featuring rich primary hues such as deep blue, yellow and red. Choose from 12 London underground inspired shade names, such as ‘Victoria’, ‘Central’, and ‘Circle’!

Price: The price of the Glory palette is 9.99$, a good price to pay for a 12 colour palette. :)

Packaging: The entire collection came in a black box with pretty pink paper inside and was very well packed, you can check out the packaging here.
The palette itself was in the colourful box below. I love the actual palette's packing, it is really well... Sleek!

The only thing that irks me, but is also kinda a good thing, is that the palette is hard to open. I've got it now but initially I chipped my polish a lot! LOL! But at least the palette won't just open in your bag!
The size is as big as my hand, I expected it to be bigger after seeing a lot of reviews but I'm not disappointed in any way. :)

Quality: Can you say AMAZING?! The Glory Palette colours are richly pigmented and all but two are shimmery. What I really like about this palette is there is a good balance between neutrals and brights. For someone who doesn't want too much makeup and a few choice shades for most occassions, this is perfect!

All the names!

All the shades are London and Olympic based. The first four in the top row remind me of the medals where as the others are based of the colours of various London underground lines. :) I also feel there maybe inspiration taken from the Olympic rings. But I might just be going into it a bit too much! LOL!

The Colours:

Top Row:
Tube: Champagne gold
Overground: Beige with silver shimmer
Bakerloo: Bronze
Jubilee: Silver
Platform (matte): Grey
Northern: Black with blue shimmer
Bottom Row:
District: Teal geen
Hammersmith and City: Pinky red
Piccadilly: Dark navy
Circle: Egg yolk yellow
Victoria: Bright blue
Central (matte): Scarlet red

I find all of them to pig brilliantly pigmented except for Platform, which you will see in the swatches, barely shows up. The staying power is good! With primer they last for 6-7 hours on oily lids, although lighter colours like the yellow look darker later. :/

Swatches:
The swatches are without any base, that gap in the middle of the top row is actually the swatch for Platform! LOL! These look great with a white base but also work well with a normal primer.

Overall:
A lovely combo of neutrals and brights, great to travel with because of the variety of colours! The quality is brilliant, except for Platform which was very disappointing. :( I feel like it's a small piece of Olympic makeup memorabilia, and a good palette to have especially at the price. Sadly they don't ship these to my US girls but maybe get a friend from across the pond to buy one for you?
I'm in love with Sleek now! Before I had tried only their lipstick, Coral Reef which I had bought in a blogsale but now I'm hooked! I already received my second palette! LOL! The Acid palette!

I really want to thank Sleek for picking me as a winner, I got to try their amazing products!

I did a look with this palette but it isn't as crazy as usual, I wasn't in a mad mood! >.< I'll try a few more later and post them. I used only Tube, Bakerloo, District and Nothern for this look.

Will you be buying this palette?

A Look at NYX Enchanted Forest

Enchanted Forest makes me think of some heavenly green place, always peaceful, with rainbows and unicorns prancing around. Turns out, you will never find this place because they packaged it into a nail polish bottle and their selling it for 206 INR on most websites.
Ok, they didn't put in the unicorns, well how you going to fit a unicorn into a 12 ml bottle? Plus they're cruelty free so I didn't expect it anyway. I feel bad for those homeless unicorns though. :(

This nail polish is beautiful! Big and small holo hex glitters with tinier sparkles all shining green and the colours of the rainbow in a sea of green jelly, which btw dries very fast, so no messed up nails from emergency texting! YAY!

I chose to wear this over my favourite polish, any guesses? NYX Surf which I've worn here and here.

I tried it on my bare nails but the green tinged nail look was not a glamorous one. So definitely need a matching base for this. Black would do well too!

Here are the swatches:
Indoors with flash

Natural light; Look at those glitters glow!
Direct sunlight
I'm loving this polish! It changes in the light in such a beautiful way, plus I've been wearing it for 3 days now and no chipping! I highly recommend it! The only flop of the polish is that you really have to fish out the big glitters, I was literally looking for them, shaking the bottle and dabbing them on when I got them.

But once you get that out of the way and look at your pretty nails, you'll forget the hardships you went through to take out those glitters.
So, get this polish! Unless you feel very strongly about depleting the unicorn's natural habitat...

Lipstick Review: Faces Moisture Rich 07“French Rose”

These last few months I’ve been looking for two things:  A really good TV connection deal and the perfect orange/ coral lipstick. Well, sadly my TV woes continue so this is obviously about the lipstick.  This is my first ever review! Hope you like it and it helps!
The lipstick I’m going to be reviewing today is called French Rose and it is from the Moisture Rich collection by Faces Cosmetics. This was my first time trying this brand and I gotta tell ya, I’m glad I did!

I wasn’t able to swatch this before buying it because I bought it online on urbantouch.com (I’ll be doing a review about the site soon.) This colour just drew me in and before I knew it, I was hitting the  “ORDER NOW” button. Price: Rs. 330. Not bad eh?

The packaging of the lipstick I find nice aesthetically but a bit bulky when using. It has a square lid and base and the base is transparent to show you the colour inside.
See, how pretty?!

This colour is a pinky orange with no shimmer, just crème like, just like I like it! The colour is very VERY pigmented! The first time I swatched it I was just like:  O_o ,”OMG! This colour is way too bright and I’m never going to use it! With the bright hair and lips, I’mma look like a clown” *cries*

No flash (L) Flash (R)

But for some reason  I just couldn’t give up on it, I loved it too much. (The images do no justice to the brightness of this colour, but bear with me)

I tried applying it directly on my lips…. FAIL!
imagine it 2 times brighter!

With gloss…  Still no!
I'm not a gloss fan!

And then it struck me to use a brush and blot! WIN WIN WIN!!! I can wear the colour like that!  *commences happy dance*
Blotted and reapplied lightly

And that was it! This colour would be treasured forever! Or at least till they stop making it anymore….

Pros:
  •          Amaah-zing colour pay-off!
  •          Transparent base helps identify colour
  •          Very fashionable unique colour, most brands don’t have these for Indian markets.
  •          Great for medium-fair skin like mine if worn correctly.
  •          Lasts for  3-4 hours, transfers when eating etc
  •          CHEAP

Cons:

  •          Teeth may look yellow on some people
  •          Faces isn’t a brand I see very often in stores, so hard to find.
  •          Rest of the make up has to be seriously toned down, like in my case hair colour and eyeliner.. I love my eyeliner! :<
  •          Sets into fine lines but not noticeable
  •

That’s it! I say this colour is perfect for girls who love the drama of orange! If this colour is not your cup of iced tea, get some of their other awesome shades, like First Lady, Fiery Orange (which is really pink -__-) or Neon Dahlia! All great colours! ^_^

Rating: 4/5 Will buy again!
