Make Your Own Eyeshadow Palette WITHOUT Magnets!

I've always wanted to make my own palette, especially for Inglot Freedom System eyeshadows which have insanely expensive palettes to go with them!
Whenever I would look up tutorials on Youtube, the solution was always the same, either you buy some kind of magnetic strip or tape OR you stick your eyeshadows down permanently with super glue or craft glue.

Now I didn't want to stick down my shadows because I like to be able to move them around, I also had problems with the magnetic strip considering it was difficult to find and SUPER EXPENSIVE!

So I decided to use me ol' noggin and what I came up with allows you to easily remove your eyeshadows from the palette anytime you want but also holds them securely in place!
The secret? Blu Tack!

What you need:

  • Any long thin box, metal/ plastic, whatever you like. I used an old watercolour tin I had.
  • Blu Tack: It's available at stationery stores, if you can't find it try online here. Costs only INR 90!
  • Eyeshadows of course!
  • Rubbing Alcohol to sanitise the box.

Step 1:
Sanitize your box with a cloth soaked in alcohol. You can use a sanitising spray as well. ^_^ Just get those tiny heebie-jeebies out!

ALL CLEAN!

Step 2:
Tear out a teeny bit of Blu Tack and roll it between your fingers, stick it to the bottom of your eyeshadows like shown below.
A small piece is more than enough!

Step 3:
Stick on your eyeshadow to the box by gently pushing it on till it feels secure.

That is literally it! That's how you do it. ^_^
Less than 100 spent to make a perfectly modifiable palette without any magnetic forces being used!

If you have a tin like mine, MAC shadows should stick down without Blu Tack thanks to the magnet at the back.

The Blu Tack is like chewing gum but more easy to remove, you can just peel it off and reuse it! ^_^

It won't come off no matter what as long you stick it on well. I've carried mine around in my kit and none of the eyeshadows have ever become loose. ^w^

And this is the end result:

I put some stickers and paper on the lid of mine to make it look more makeup and less stationery like!
So, that's how I make my own eyeshadow palettes! Without the pain of having to find magnets and all under 100 INR.

What do you think? Have you ever tried making a DIY palette?
Hope you enjoyed this tutorial and I hope it helped you! ^_^

If you try my tutorials, I would love to see pics!! You can share them on my

Solone Eyeshadow Palette #02 Golden Green Review

Hello children! How is everyone doing? No, I really want to know! I've been so busy, barely any time for you guys or le old blog!  I had my first makeup photo shoot, last week and we had to create a glamorous neutral look and my model looked AMAZING! And it was mostly thanks to the eye shadow palette I'm going to review today.

The palette is by a Taiwanese brand called Solone and was sent to me by KKCenterHk for review!
Thank you once again KKCenterHk! ^_^

 Price:
$18.30 for 14g.

Packaging:

Solone's eye shadow palette comes in a pretty black and pink cardboard box. The palette itself has a glossy black finish and holographic lettering, I find it quite hypnotic! Lol! The glossiness of the case makes for a lot of finger prints though!

The palette houses 10 eye shadows in an array of beautiful shades although, like the name suggests, most of the shades fall under the gold or green category.

The package reminds me of a smaller version of the Sleek i-Divines. Just 2 colours short and with square shadows. Both have a similar mirror and sponge tip applicator.

I love that it is small and convenient to carry!

Colours and Swatches:

There are ten colours in all, all frosty and shimmery. That is a small complaint I have with this palette, that there are no matte shades, although all the shades are beautiful, well pigmented and silky soft. The shimmer is not chunky at all.

 Top row:
Pale gold- Love this for highlighting
Coral/ Gold duo chrome- A fave of mine, looks a lot like Expensive Pink by MAC
Turquoise- A beautiful gold/ blue duo chrome
Purple- A metallic purple/ silver colour
Navy blue- One of the disappointing shades, as compared to the others. Usable but it's a bit chalky.

Bottom row:
Mint- Yay! A mint eyeshadow! I've always wanted one! Lol! Looks silver in the swatch though. >.<
Gold- A nice, proper gold! Lovely, especially for bridal or Indian looks.
Green- Olive/ gold colour, another great Indian look colour.
Silver- Not a fan of silver shadow but an amazingly pigmented shadow.
Gunmetal Grey- I wish this was a black. :( I would love a shimmery black! Weak like the navy blue.

So save the last two shades, all of these colours are great! Together they make a versatile palette, from everyday shades, bridal colours, to smokey party colours, this is a very usable palette that can be travelled with!

On my Eyes:
Sorry about my horribly messy brows!

Using the coral and purple

Using the navy blue, green, blue and golds
Even though the price is a bit steep, I would recommend this palette, it has lovely colours that actually deliver!

If you would like to buy the Solone 10 eye shadow palette, do check out KKCenterHk!
They have many more you can choose from too, from single shadows to palettes with 100s of colours! ^_^
Thanks for reading!

Sample sent for consideration. My review and opinion is honest and my own.

Born Pretty Store, Kiss Beauty 12 Color Eyeshadow Review

Hey guys, today I'm going to review an eyeshadow palette from my new sponsor
Born Pretty Store!
I'm sure almost all of you must have heard of them already, they're very popular for their vast range of makeup, nail art and other (some almost magical) knickknacks!

Daisy from the store asked me to pick a product and I decided to go with an eyeshadow palette because you know, eye shadow junkie here! Lol!
The one I picked was Kiss Beauty's 12 Color eye shadow palette, which I now have a love-hate relationship with! And I will tell you all about it in my review!

Price:
$5.67 (approx. Rs. 300)

Packaging:
I'm quite fond of the packaging actually, the lid is prone to scratching but the eyeshadows are all arranged like flower petals and I think it looks quite pretty. They're all arranged in separate quads, one of  black/ silver/ golds, one of pinks and purple and a nude one.
The set comes with two sponge tip applicators.

Smell and Texture:
Usually eye makeup products don't have a smell and I like it that way. This one has a strong smell of baby/ floral powder. If you have a sensitive nose you may not enjoy it.
The texture is different for every colour in the palette, it isn't consistently good or bad, but a mix of both.
Some are chalky, some are buttery smooth, I'll elaborate later.

Colour:
All the colours have a glittery overspray, after removing that you get to the true colour of the eyeshadow. The eyeshadows themselves are quite shimmery!
I'll explain every colour, quad wise because, really they are all very different!

Quad #1 out of all the 3 is the best one according to me. The white in the top left corner is chalky and not pigmented, I've yet to find a white that is! Grrr...The top right is a lovely highlight colour, a white gold that goes on really smooth and shows up really well! The black is slightly shimmery but a very good quality black eyeshadow! It is disappointing when black is chalky or not dark enough, this on is great! The yellow next to the black has a hint of gold too, it isn't too chalky or smooth, right in the middle somewhere. Not bad!
A great combo to use for a glam night out!

Quad #2 is all pinks and a purple. The top two pinks are almost the same colour but the quality of the right one is better! The pink on the bottom left is chalky but surprisingly has good pigmentation! The purple is most disappointing in the whole palette, it looks vibrant in the box, but once swatched barely shows up. :(

Quad #3 are all neutral colours, I liked this one too. The colours were well pigmented except the one on the bottom left. The rop right makes a nice highlight and the copper is quite pretty!
Great for everyday!

Performance:
Personally, I thought the palette needs more matte shades as all of them are shimmer, if you absolutely love shimmer you may enjoy this palette! The quality is unpredictable, where some are amazing colours, others are chalky. You do need a base under these shades for them to show up brightly! But they do last 5-6 hours on oily lids. ^_^
This is not a must have product of course but if you are new to makeup and don't want to spend on expensive products but still want colours or absolutely love shimmer, this palette might work for you! :)

EOTD:

I've used a primer or base for all the looks, the pink one especially I had to use the Painted Purple Color tattoo.

This may not be the best product Born Pretty Store has to offer but it is pretty value for money and offers a good range if you want colours, this palette comes in six different varieties!

If you want to buy this palette or anything else beauty related, give Born Pretty Store a go! To get 10% off on your order you can use my coupon code:

Tiny Pretty Things: Castledew Pearl Up Eyes Eyeshadows Review (Image Heavy)

As promised on my Facebook page I have the review of the Castledew single shadows. They're from The Pearl Up Single Eyeshadow range, two of them are called "Extreme Pearl" and are extra shimmery.

Castledew is a Korean brand under VOV and not available in India, so when I found these and other goodies right in the city, I was over the moon!
I actually contemplated them being fake and picked up only two at first but after researching them online like a woman possessed, I found they were the REAL THING!
The next day: Goes back and buys EVERYTHING. (Well almost, still have to try the lipsticks and glosses.)

Anyway, on to my review! Lol!

Price:
Living in Mumbai you can find them at Beauty Center for Rs. 75. But they're selling out quick! (Well, at that price they should be! Lol!)

On Korea Depart they have a few colours, it was the cheapest option I found, for 5-6$.
On Ebay they can be found for any price between 8-15$! *cough* rip-off *cough*

Packaging:
The packaging is veryy well thought out. The outer cardboard box is purple with holographic designs and letters, they're basically really pretty and hypnotic so you are compelled to buy them! >.<
It has cut-outs for both back and front to see the colour and read the number and name at the back.
The inside is really pretty too! Shaped like little jewels and with more holographic goodness when you open them! The powder too has a diamond pattern. ^_^

Feel the Holographic Hypnosis! From L-R: 9456 Ocean Sky Blue, VL330 Midnight Violet, 9634 Pink Bear? Veil? IDK >.<, 9149 Coral Peach, E9209 Deep Brown
Smell and Texture:
The shadows have no smell and the texture is absolutely buttery except for the two extreme shadows which although soft are gritty due to chunky glitter.

Colours:
I have five of them and although they have numbers, I practiced my Korean by reading them out loud in the store and sounding like a chimp evolving to use human languages. -__-
I did figure out the names though! Lol! And brushed up on my non-existent Korean skills. XD

9456: Ocean Sky Blue

From the Extreme Pearl Up Eyes, a great aqua colour with loads of shimmer and slightly multi dimensional. The photo doesn't do the shimmer justice. I found that it made a great dupe for MAC's Divine Blue. ^_^

VL330: Midnight Violet:

Even though it's called Midnight Violet, this is a pale purple colour and looks very feminine. i was thinking it would be more of a Goth colour but nope! Still love it though. :)

9634: Pink Bear? Veil? ( It says 핑크 베일.. Veil might make more sense. -__-)

This colour is one of those you think looks really plain but turns out to be amazing in that subtle pretty way! Love this for retro looks and is really satin like in texture. Again, reminds me of MAC Ready to Party.. I just saw these colours at the store and realised how I don't need them because I have dupes. Lol! Thought you'd like to know. ;)

9149: Coral Peach

A fave of mine, great for parties and everyday looks. It's a pinky orange which switches to gold in different lights. I didn't expect that from something that looks so flat in the case!

E9209: Deep Brown

Another fave! Looks much darker in person and has a matte finish. Great for a smokey look. It leans warm and doesn't look muddy or patchy when applied.

This look was done with just the deep brown, a black pencil and a highlight.
Performance:
These colours are all so amazing and last for a good long time of 5 hours without primer on my oily lids. Though, the brown lasts much longer! I am itching to get more of these but I have so many eyeshadows right now, that I'll stick to daydreaming about them!
Even though I got them cheap, they do have a more expensive price tag. Truthfully, I would be willing to pay 5-6$ (Rs.200-300 approx.) for these. Their quality is comparable to brands like NYX and some colours especially are worth it!

You can get the chance to win some of the Castledew Pearl Up Eyes in my giveaway HERE.

Hope you enjoyed this loooong review. I'll try to keep the next one shorter! Lol! And I'm sorry about my shabby eyemakeup looks, I did them quite hurriedly. >.<
So, have you tried Castledew eyeshadows? Would you want to?
Thanks for reading!

Purple Haze Eye Makeup Tutorial

Amy please don't kill me! I was supposed to do this purple eye shadow tutorial for my friend Amy, what, 5 months ago? But I ended up being a biatch and forgetting. ;A; Recently I was reminded that I had to do this and got my butt into gear! So here it is. ^_^ Hope you love it Amy!

Step 1:
Prime your eyelids and apply concealer. As usual to give my eyebrows a little lift, I applied some light concealer under my brow as a highlight.

Step 2:
I applied a base of Maybelline's Color Tattoo in Painted Purple to make the colours look brighter. You don't have to do this step but it helps. ^_^

Step 3:
Apply a matte purple shadow, or shimmer if you prefer it, on the center of your lid. I used CUICU's Violet eyeshadow from KKCenterHk.

Step 4:
Fill in the crease with your normal crease colour, I should have done this for step 2 but forgot. >.<
It doesn't matter though.

Step 5:
Draw on a thick line at your lashline with a black eye pencil and smudge it out, especially upwards and into your crease.

Step 6:
Do the same on the lower lashline. You can even use a dark plum or black eyeshadow to build the intensity of the black pencil.

Step 7:
Apply a highlight shadow under the arch of your brow and the inner corners of your eyes. I used Gaze from Lancome, it's a pretty pale peachy pink. ^^

Step 8:
Almost done! Curl lashes if you like, add mascara and black liner on your water line. You can add falsies if you're good at it (unlike me.)
And finished!
.
.
.

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial! If I've ever forgotten to do something you requested or have a new request for me, let me know! I promise I will not take as long as I did to post this one!
Sorry Amy! >w<
