Monday Manicure: Freehand Geometrical Design

Yay! A Monday Manicure after a long long time! The winter's been very harsh on my nails, yes even in Mumbai! So I haven't been wearing as much nail polish as I used to. My nails keep breaking and nail polish keeps chipping too! X(

Anyway, I did this manicure a couple of days ago, I was really bored and decided to do it freehand. I would have normally use tape for lines like this but the glue on the tape was too strong and peeling off my polish.. Grrr...

So I used a paint brush! Lol!

Sure, it's not as neat as using tape. But still fun to do!
Btw see how dry my cuticles are? ;n;

The colours I used are China Glaze "Flyin' High" for a base, "Re-fresh Mint" for the mint and Maybelline Colorama "Sexy" for the pink! Hope you like it! ^_^

I'm in Love with Red Now: Ulta3 Pepper Pot Review

If you go through my past manicures, you'll see that my least use or maybe even never used colour is red. It's true! Go check, I'll wait... Ok? Done? See I told you!

I don't know what it is, but red polish always turns me off. I haven't owned a bottle of it for years before my aunt sent me two bottles from Australia, from the brand Ulta3. One called Scarlet and the other Pepper Pot, which I'm showing you today! You can see the rest of the colours here.

Without flash- After 2 days of wear

Maybe, i was messy in application or never found the right red but they always annoyed me! They would always be streaky and look very cheap. That is not at all what I feel after using Pepper Pot!

With flash- 2days of wear

Pepper Pot is a slightly blue red, with an amazing glossy finish. You would think it is still wet! It goes on opaque in two coats and lasts me at least 4-5 days with no chips, just a little tip wear! Which is just WOW! It looks sophisticated and classy and I LOVE IT! ^3^

I'm going to be going back to this polish a lot! And definitely will be asking my aunt to bring me down more bottles of it. :)

Manicure Monday: Blingtastic Sequined Nails with Review

Hey everyone! Here's a little change from my makeup challenge, I decided to do my nails with a little effort yesterday, I've been doing them lazily for a while now since I had such a huge workload to deal with!
So I thought I would try this awesome glitter that was sent to me by KKCenterHk.

KKCenterHk, is a great stroe where you get everything beauty related under the sun for very reasonable prices :)
The glitter I received is a beautiful gold colour, this is the actual product name and link:  N.NAIL 1.5mm Bright Glitter- B0208.
The jar is $5.54 for 10 g and will seriously last me a life time! The glitter is 1.5mm in size and just the right size to be used on nails. The glitter is good quality and I like that it's a bit thick so it doesn't fly around when opened. The size is pretty uniform too!

I plan to use this glitter for eye makeup too! Lets see how that goes. :)

 I used NYX's Hot Coral and while it was still wet, set the glitter in there with a toothpick. Then added top coat!  I liked how it turned out! I obviously have a thing for coral and gold, I'm sure some of you remember this tutorial. :D

Manicure Monday: Glitter Confetti and FOTD

Finally a Monday Manicure! Sorry for such a lame-o one! I'll have an epic one next week.. (At least i hope. >.>)
Anyway, I call this Glitter Confetti but its just this manicure revisited.. Used th same NYX Multi Glitter polish, except over white. ^u^

The multi glitter polish is thickening up! I has a sad! ;-;

Anyway, this is the FOTD today! Ansh from Vanity No Apologies sent me over the Forever Pink Infallible eyeshadow for my contest prize and it was so pretty I had to try it out! My camera no pick up the prettiness! X(
 It looks a lot like MAC Expensive pink, I was just like : *u* PURDEH! Thanks Ansh! *kisssssiiieeees*

Sorry I'm not writing much, I've become an old lady these days, I sleep at 11:30pm and wake up at 8 am.. I don't do that usually! I feel like there's something wrong even though what I'm doing is healthy. LOL!

Manicure Monday: Set Lasers to Fun

*Hauls self from under rock.* Hi all! Sorry I've been posting less often these days, technically I posted on Saturday but for me 2 days is a long time to go without blogging now! LOL!

I've just been swamped with work. I'm living on 4 hours of sleep and barely any food. -__-
Anyway, I managed to dig up a mani that I had done a few days ago, and decided to post it.

How to: This was my first time trying a laser mani, I put a layer of the yellow polish first, then when it dried, I put on the striping tape at various angles and painted over with grey. Once that dried I I peeled the tape and was left with the laser like stripes!

Without flash the yellow looks more green and grey more blue. Still pretty!

Also, for the very first time, the nails on my right hand look better than the left! LOL! I got impatient and peeled the tape before the polish dried. >.<

How to fail at the lazser mani!

What I used:

NYX Girls polish "Dark grey," China Glaze "Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" and Striping tape.

I've also used the China Glaze polish for this stripey manicure.

I hope you enjoyed this manicure! I have to get back to work now!

But I'll still do my best to update as often as I can! I won't be able to do any makeup tutorials for awhile though. ;n;
After two weeks, I'll be free again *hopefully*.

Another Late Monday Manicure and a FOTD

I know, it IS Tuesday, I'm late again but I was out the whole day yesterday and by the time I got back I was so pooped, I would have been just typing "Baaboohagdjkagdhfk" and thinking I'm writing the blog post equivalent to a Shakespearean play.. I wonder what that looks like.. But anyway, yeah, so I decided to write when I'm more aware of my surroundings, especially the keys on my keyboard here.

Here's a tip from my boyfriend (who btw I now know is AMAZING at picking out foundation! Who woulda thunk it?!), he says before you look at my nails, make sure to stare directly at the sun for awhile, so your eyes won't hurt as much from the nails... Okay, don't really do that, the camera muted the colour anyway. :(

So here's my manicure, it's Yellow Polka Dot Bikini by China Glaze, I think it was from last year's summer Pool Party collection? Correct me if I'm wrong. I also did zebra stripes, I love the trashy look! LOL!

The camera doesn't pick up how highlighter yellow it is! *stomps camera*

In the sun, I feel it looks more "glowy" in darker conditions.

Yellow Polka Dot Bikini is a very flourescent colour BUT pretty sheer. It has a matte finish and dries in seconds. For this mani, I used 2 layers of white polish below the yellow to make it pop. I'm loving it!

And I'm so happy, I found it on discount for 375 INR, I think its much cheaper than the online stores. :D

Here's the makeup I wore yesterday, it's at the end of the day so it looks pretty messed up now! LOL!

I'm wearing Maybellin's BB cream in Nude, Jordana Stardust blush on my face

I'm wearing ColorBar Velvet Matte lipstick in Peach Crush on my lips and
Maybelline's Chai Latte quad on my eyelids (3 colours) with Hypercurl Mascara and Colossal Kajal.

Apparently my hair is in competition with my nails! As is my lipstick! LOL!

I love it when my lipstick matches my hair btw! Hope you enjoyed this NOTD and FOTD.

A Look at NYX Enchanted Forest

Enchanted Forest makes me think of some heavenly green place, always peaceful, with rainbows and unicorns prancing around. Turns out, you will never find this place because they packaged it into a nail polish bottle and their selling it for 206 INR on most websites.
Ok, they didn't put in the unicorns, well how you going to fit a unicorn into a 12 ml bottle? Plus they're cruelty free so I didn't expect it anyway. I feel bad for those homeless unicorns though. :(

This nail polish is beautiful! Big and small holo hex glitters with tinier sparkles all shining green and the colours of the rainbow in a sea of green jelly, which btw dries very fast, so no messed up nails from emergency texting! YAY!

I chose to wear this over my favourite polish, any guesses? NYX Surf which I've worn here and here.

I tried it on my bare nails but the green tinged nail look was not a glamorous one. So definitely need a matching base for this. Black would do well too!

I'm loving this polish! It changes in the light in such a beautiful way, plus I've been wearing it for 3 days now and no chipping! I highly recommend it! The only flop of the polish is that you really have to fish out the big glitters, I was literally looking for them, shaking the bottle and dabbing them on when I got them.

But once you get that out of the way and look at your pretty nails, you'll forget the hardships you went through to take out those glitters.
So, get this polish! Unless you feel very strongly about depleting the unicorn's natural habitat...

Nail Art Challenge Day 2

Argh! I'm so late!! Sorry Puja. :( This has to be one of my most hurried nail arts yet but I was out all day and got time to start at 11pm. So I had to hurry. ;A;

Puja at Cute Nails is having a great nail art challenge, you can go to her blog and see the other participants as well.. I still have to do that myself! Anyway, I decided my theme would be owls since the category was animals and since I started so late in the night, it seems appropriate. :P

I know it got messy, I feel so bad, I'm going to redo this some day and do it justice. Now I gotta sleep! G'night guys!

Manicure Monday: Miss Claire Galore!

Since you already know how much I've been bitching about how much work I've been swamped in, I'm not going to go there again. But due to lack of time I have had the most hideous nails ever! And I didn't want to keep them that way... So, what's the best way to have nail art on the go? Crackle polish of course. :)

One of my favourite crackles is Miss Claire. I hunted through Mumbai for a cheap crackle polish and after encountering prices like 400-500 INR, I was giving up hope, till I found Miss Claire crackle polish at Beauty Center, Khar! Only 150!! *joyful spazzing*

The pink is a normal polish I used for the mani.

This crackle is really good, and it comes in a variety of colours! But since I had already ordered a couple of coloured ones from beautyjoint.com, I decided to go for black.

At first, I applied it and I was a bit disappointed because even with top coat it looked very gray. :( But soon I realised it was because I was using a quick dry top coat, with a normal top coat I found it was the blackest black. And we lived happily ever after!

Pros:

• Good quantity
• Great price
• Doesn't get chunky over time *cough OPI cough*

Cons:

• Stays grey when used with quick dry top coat.

The pink I've used under the crackle is also a Miss Claire colour, same price and officially my favourite pink! It's slightly neon and chips only after 4 days, miraculous for someone like me! I've also used it in this cute manicure. ^u^

NOTD now with crappy nail update!

So, I broke two of my nails yesterday. :( And my cuticles are horribly dry.

How can these nails save face? Perhaps a little Chinese glittery knock off polish will help?

I layered the glittery polish over black and got a pretty nice distracting result of a dark blue purple. :) I smeared on a lot of base coat before just in case too. ;)

NOTD and OPI Shatter Review

I want Black crackle polish. :(
Seriously. I love the Silver Shatter by OPI but I feel like I love it because it is OPI and not because it is genuinely awesome.

Yes, it is all "crackly" but it is just no fun. T^T The only friends it has is black or a dark blue. Which is no fun because I love my crazy colours and the crazy ones refuse to be seen with the Silver Shatter. What can I do? It's like high school all over again! *sobs*
And it's so pretty too. :(

OPI Silver Shatter: Forever Alone... *cries*

Also, the shatter is weird. It needs to be applied exactly right to get the real shatter-y effect, otherwise it might just look like chipped silver polish.

So far I've tried it with:
Maybelline Colorama Black: Awesome!
Faces "Siberian Nights" (seen here): Awesome!
Maybelline Colorama "Roxo Metalico": Kinda awesome...
Some pale lavender by Elle 18: FAIL!
Maybelline Colorama "Amarelo Sol":  SUPER FAIL! *sobs*

I'm not going to give up though! I'm going to try it with some reds and oranges, maybe a brown before I decide to give up completely. :/
So, I guess OPI Silver Shatter is not as great as I thought it would be. But mostly because it is silver. I still love it because it IS my first OPI polish but I'm sure if it were black it would effing kick ass!
And so... I need want MUST HAVE a black crackle polish. D:

That silver line doesn't look as prominent in reality. The flash kills the look a bit.
