Blue Eyes~~ Maybelline Colossal Turquoise Review

I don't think I'm the only one who is kind of, sort of bothered by the number of blue eye pencils available on the market. Am I?
I wish brands would come up with a nice nude shade for my waterline or a funky burgundy ( I got one btw, will review it soon! ^_~) An orange maybe! AW YISS! But nope, blues, aquas, and teals everywhere!
I've become jaded by them, no pun intended... Wait jade is a green... Nevermind! -__-

Anyway, the new Colossal Turquoise showed up at my door a couple of weeks ago and I went on a tiny rant in my head about, "Wow another blue, really? I wonder how they thought up of that..." Then I opened the packaging and I swatched it. Then I begrudgingly decided to shut the eff up!
Why? Because this new Colossal Turquoise pencil by Maybelline is GAWJUS!
Let me explain...

Price & Packaging:
Firstly the price is great, I have no problems shelling out Rs.250 for a coloured eye pencil, hell, I'd shell out more if the colour deserved it! The packaging too is lovely, very similar to the original Colossal kajal but has a bunch of blue jazz going on that is quite snazzy! *_*
The pencil itself comes in a twist up form, so no fuss about sharpening but I wouldn't put it in my kit because it would be unhygienic to use on a lot of people without sharpening.

Colour:
Okay, it's BLUE! I'm done with blue but i just loved this shade! It's obviously a turquoise or aqua shade as is mentioned on the front of the box but it also has a lovely gold sheen and a bit of shimmer that adds a great dimension to the plain ol' blue and also makes it much more flattering on Indian skintones.

Longevity and Texture:
I have a teeny complaint about the texture of the Colossal Turquoise and that is that it is a bit hard and drags a bit. Once it is warmed up, it glides on really well but I ended up breaking a chunk of it off trying to draw on a line without knowing it would be dry. Heating it up on the back of your hand helps greatly though!

The time the pencil lasts on my oil slicked lids is quite impressive! It lasts from anywhere to 4-6 hours in the heat! Which is something I can be satisfied with in my oily, humid conditions!

I did the looks below with the black and Turquoise Colossals...

Overall:
The shade of the Colossal Turquoise just reminded me that I may have a little space in my heart for a unique blue eye liner, the price is great and it's so easy to use! I may be over blue liners but this is definitely not your average blue liner!
I see this colour becoming quite popular with girls who would love to experiment with their liner! A great shade to have I think!

Have you tried the new Colossal Turquoise Kohl? Love it or hate it? Comment below!
Thanks for reading!

And yeah, I am trying to keep this blog going by posting as much as I can... I wish Blogger had a better app though! I've had to type this post out twice!! *sobs*

The product featured in this post was sent for review but all the opinions are honest and very much my own!

Tag: What's in My Purse? ^u^

I've wanted to do this post for a loooong time now. I've seen other bloggers do it and truthfully, my purse looks like nothing compared to theirs. I guess I just don't carry that much stuff. :/ I tried a different funny way to go about this, I mean what's the point of me just naming things right? I hope you enjoy!
Let's get to it!

This is my favourite purse by the way, I got it on sale at Accessorize a few months ago and I love it! ♥

Let's poke our heads inside, shall we? :P

Clockwise from left:

My Homing Wallet: My absolutely favourite Cath Kidston wallet! It actually did home back to me.. It got stolen on the bus from my purse and I didn't even know! I got a call a few hours later from a kid, that he had founf it and I got it back! How lucky is that? Nothing was missing except the little change I had. So sometimes, we should have faith in humanity!

Bath and Body Works "Bones" Hand Sanitizer: Mmmm.. Smells like vanilla and coconut! Plus adorable crossbones on the bottle! Did I just type adorable crossbones?... O_o

Fresh Ones: Because you never know when a bird's gonna poop on you and you have to clean it off! LOL!

My iPod Nano: Cannot live without my K-pop! Especially in a boring bus. -__-

My Nokia X5 cell phone: I don't call people, people call me! No, I'm not being a beeyotch.. I just never have any balance! LOL!

Lotus Sunscreen: Because that yummy roasting smell is probably me in the sun without it!

Bath and Body Works "Sweet Pea" Body Splash: Love this! Covers up the oogiest body odours! I'm almost done with this bottle but I have another waiting. ;)

My Makeup Pouch: Gotta have that! Here's what's inside THAT!

Basicare Blotting Tissue: Because I'm an oil well and they help!

Maybelline Colossal Kajal: Love this kajal! No more "I've cried a thousand tears-emo-raccoon" face!

Maybelline Dream Matte Powder: As I said, oil well.. So, I'm trying this out! Review soon. ^^

Facewash: I usually carry around a small face wash, right now it's this Jovees grapeseed something I got as a sample.. Review soon!

Lipstick and Lipbalm: Could be any lipstick! I just picked NYX's Addis Ababa soft matte lip cream for the photo because.. Bright packaging! =D I carry the Lipice lipbalm EVERYWHERE! It's a lifesaver!

Maybelline BB cream: Because it helps my skin transform from "been dead for a week" to "Oh-la-la."

That's it girls! All that is in my purse, just add a water bottle and I'm good to go!

Ooh! I almost forgot! Check out this cute cellphone charm my sister got me! She says since I blog about makeup, it fit the bill! What do you think? ^-^

I would love to see y'all try this tag! It is really fun! :D Helped me clean my purse out a bit too! LOL!

Hope you enjoyed it!

"Arabian Nights" EOTD and Tutorial

In my Coastal Scents haul post, I had put up a look that I got really nice comments for and I even got requests for a tutorial! Thanks Rids and Puja! :D So, the awesome thing about this look was I did it completely on the fly and I've been kicking myself for not noting down how I did it! But I think I've figured it out now. ^u^
It might look a bit different from the original though.

Also, I'm too cheap to buy nice brushes, I use like three brushes:
An angled one, a flat one and various sponge blenders... Yeah.. So, you can pick what brush to use at what step, I'll give you a few hints but.. yeah.. -__- Sorry.. Teehee.

This is the look I got at the end:
It does look slightly different doesn't it? :/ I used too much green.

So lets get to the tutorial! Lotsa pics to post! ;)

Step 1:  Using a dark purple/blue eyeshadow, like the eyeliner tutorial, draw out a line right from your lower lash line, following the angle and make sure to end it before the eyebrow, then following the crease draw a curve ending just a bit before the inner corner.

Step 2: Fill in the outer 3rd of the eyelid with the same colour, also bring in the curve of the crease and fill a bit on the upper lash line.

Step 3: Fill in the middle with a lighter blue, not too light, just medium, blend it with the purple.

Step 4: With a slightly lighter blue, fill in the inner corner and blend it outwards, keep all of it within the crease.

Step 5: Sweep a turquoise green across your lash line and blend upwards.

Step 6: Sorry for the bad picture. :( Here, with a copper, gold, brown or even black pencil draw over your upper AND lower lashlines, this will basically give a base for more eyeshadows to show up brightly. :)

Step 7: Now, on top of the pencil work a green on the inner and outer sides and a gold right in the center. Then, blend them into each other but keep the gold prominent! We want that pop of gold. :)

Step 8: Put some gold shadow on the inner corners and blend it into the top and bottom lid.

Step 9: Using the medium blue shadow, draw a line along side the "wing" and blend it only slightly into the wing, it should still look defined but not a hard line.

Step 10: Over the pencil line we made on the lower lashline, sweep on some of the green on the outer and inner corner, like the top lid, and blend the outer one into the blue we made in the previous step. Also, put some gold in the center of the lower lash line and blend with the green.

Step 11: Pat on some of the gold onto the brow bone and blend it downwards in the shape shown below!

Step 12:  Tightline and darken the waterline of the eyes with a black pencil and wear LOTS of mascara and you are DONE!

That was long wasn't it? Phew!

I played around with my camera for a bit with the look, gives you an idea of how the entire face would look. I'm not wearing foundation so my skin looks bleh. I'm sorry, I'll remember to wear it next time.

I showed this pic to my bf and he says, "You look Arabian or something." LOL! It worked!

I wore the scarf because red hair just doesn't look right with the look!

I used an orange looking bronzer from my Revlon palette for the cheeks and Blushing Brunette on my lips. I love that colour, seriously!

Make-up used:

  • Coastal Scents 88 Original Palette

I used the ticked shades

  •  NYX eye/eyebrow pencil in Cuivre (copper)
  • Maybelline Colossal Kajal
  • Maybelline Colossal Volum' mascara
  • Revlon Bronzer (don't know the name)
  • Maybelline Colorsensational lipstick "Blushing Brunette"

Sorry for putting this up so late, so much EDITING! It was a long tutorial and I hope it made sense! But I had a lot of fun doing this look, I hope you guys try it and enjoy it too! If you do, please show me, I'd love to see what you do! :D

Failproof, foolproof, Cat/Winged Liner Tutorial of Perfection!

Okay, that title is a bit exaggerated. XD But truthfully, this tutorial is the easiest way to get a winged liner look without it looking like a hook sticking out of your eye, great for beginners! The shape will always compliment your eyes and you can never get this wrong unless you have like serious withdrawal symptoms, i.e. shaky hands. I used to use this way when I first started wearing eyeliner, now i have moved to greater things. *acts self-important*

So this is what we're going for:
Exhibit A: Le *almost* perfect wing

Lets do this! Warning: Onslaught of images may slow your interwebz!

  •  Draw a straight line beginning from the end of your lower lid outwards, make sure the line you draw  follows the natural angle of your lower lid, like how I have done, in the direction of the arrow. Try not to tug at your lis to get the line, just draw it on naturally. If you tilt your head back slightly, it is easier.
  • Make sure the line doesn't cross the eyebrow area, if you want to do that... I don't know what to tell you. -__-

  • Next, from the tip of the line you just drew, bring the eyeliner down in a triangular shape to your upper eyelid in a straight line, as shown above. If it is a little shaky don't worry! Keep handy, your trusty q-tip and make up remover to clean up!
You should have something like this. :)

  • Now draw on a thin line from the inner corner of the eye and get it to meet the triangle. Build it up if you like.
  • I wear much heavier eyeliner on a regular basis and draw in the eyeliner all the way under the lower lashes as well. If you want a more dramatic look, you can try this!
  • Now this is the easy part! Just fill in all the blanks. :)
  • Now fill in your water line with a kohl pencil and don't forget to tightline the upper lash line as well, this will make all the small spaces that your brush couldn't reach disappear!
  • Next! Mascara baby! You can curl your lashes before, I haven't because a. I'm lazy and b. I'm resourceful aka I have a curling mascara. XD
And you're done!

Makeup used:
Eyeshadows: Gaze and Click from Lancome (I know what you're thinking, "what about the cheapness??" They were gifts. :P)
Eyeliner: Maybelline's Lasting Drama Gel liner and brush, but you can use liquid or pencil too, whatever works for you!
Kohl: Maybelline Colossal Kajal :D
Mascara: Maybelline Hypercurl

What can I say, I loves me Maybelline!
Just an FYI, this is what my liner usually looks like, if you want to try it. I know it is a bit heavy for everyday use for most people but I like it. :)
A bit messed up because it was taken after a long day. *yawns*

I hope all the beginners reading this can get some tips from this. :)
Let me know if you would like to see more tutorials here and if you liked this one! If you're already an eyeliner pro, I would love to hear some tips! :D

Why I am always broke: Urbantouch.com review

Ah, yes... Online shopping. Easy, fun, and highly addictive! Seriously, I need to get away from it. I'm turning into a couch potato just sitting at home and surfing the net for things I can buy OR can't buy... If I can't then I just bookmark them and stare till an optic fibre cable with a bunch of binary code that becomes my reality! I need to go outside, into the sun and do stuff in person...
Wait, I'm going outside? Will need sunscreen, must order now!

Ok, I'm back... I got a bit distracted there, so anyway as I was saying online shopping has taken over my life and one of the reasons I got into it is Urbantouch. Just yesterday I was a shopping online noob and suddenly I'm ordering everything from shoes to lens solution online! All because of one urbantouch.com.

They made everything SO easy! At first I didn't want to use my card, just in case the site is fake, no biggie, CASH ON DELIVERY!! And they have everything you need, I hardly go to make up stores anymore. And shipping is fast, not to mention free if you buy stuff worth >300Rs. They used to have a free gift for every 500 spent but sadly not anymore.. Why urbantouch? WHAIII? Bring it back!! They had nice gifts too... I've gotten foot butter, face washes, a nail file lol! It isn't great stuff but fun to get.

One thing I really like about them is, the packing! I love the boxes and I keep them to store various make up, they're a classy black and very sturdy.

Warning: Fugly photos from cell camera, actual camera is temporarily deceased.

Tightly packed!

The logo.. As a designer, me no likey.

I've ordered from them three times so far. Once for a Konad stamping set, whose plate I have already lost. T-T, nailpolishes, Sally Hansen topcoat etc. Recently I bought a foundation, concealer and the Colossal Kajal because mine had gotten over.

Styrofoam-ed and bubble-wrapped
More wrapping!
I don't think I've ever ordered from another site that packs parcels so well! They're very carefully and tightly packed.

Diana of London Protouch concealer, The Colossal Kajal, Lotus Pure Radiance Matte Glow Foundation

The swatches on the site for *most* products are pretty accurate. The products I got match perfectly! The customer care is pretty good but can be weird. The first time my order was late and I mailed them a few times about it, although I would get the replies lightning fast, it would always be the same, "inconvenience regretted" type ones.

Funny thing is, when I got the package I mailed them about how great the packing was and still got an incovenience regretted mail! Lol!
All in all, I really recommend ordering from urbantouch, it is an AMAZING site with many many many options, you'll love it! :D

Oh, btw I bought the strawberry body butter from TBS yesterday! The BIG pack, love it! :D
Nom nom nom! I could eat this stuff!

My new HURR!!! You like? No like? Tell me! Psst.. Bad picture lol!
My sister calls me Nicki Minaj now. -___-
This one I like!
