Monday Mascara Review: Max Factor 24 False Lash Effect Mascara

I realised today that I am yet to do a mascara review on the blog! Blasphemy! >.<
Mascara is probably something I use like a staple in my makeup and I conveniently ignored reviewing it!
But enough is enough, I'm going to do reviews for the unsung heroes of my eye makeup collection from tonight!
Starting with one of my favourites, Max Factor "24 False Lash Effect."

Price:
710 INR (although I remember paying much less! O__o) I got mine at West Side.

Packaging:
The mascara tube is big and fat, not unlike the Maybelline Colossal mascara. It's a completely black tube with pink metallic writing.

It's available in 2 colours, black and brown. I have the black.

The Brush and Formula:
The False ash Effect masacra's brush is super CHUNKY! The first time I opened it, the threat of me poking my eye out was very real to me! And I did manage to poke myself once or twice but eventually got used to it.
The brush is one of those rubberised ones and looks super spiky and scary but the little points do well in separating your lashes!

The formula is pretty liquid and you need for it to dry once applied, because of it being so wet, it smears easily when applying so you have to be careful! It can appear clumpy too if you apply too much. Luckily not much is needed!

As for the 24 HOUR claim this mascara has, I have to say it is absolutely true! I've fallen asleep with it on, watched all kinds of chick flicks with all the crying, had watery eyes because of allergies but this baby has stayed put through it all!
That's why it is definitely one of my favourite mascaras! I always need to have waterproof mascaras and this is close to everything proof! Lol!
Even with cleanser, you need to work hard to get it off, this is a little time consuming but an oil based cleanser handles it well! ^_^

No mascara (curled lashes), one coat, 2 coats

Performance:
As you can see, even with curling my lashes choose to remain poker straight, and they aren't very thick... Okay, my eyelids are practically bald! But you can see how the False Lash Effect mascara transforms them into a thick spidery wonder land (yes, that for me is a good thing!)
You can see a little smearing because of the big brush but it isn't visible from a normal distance so I don't mind it at all!
I usually just do one coat, I did two here to show you guys how it looks! ^_^

So to sum up, awesome mascara, brush is a bit scary but effective! Super duper waterproof!
A must have for tiny negligible and straight lashes! ♥

Hope you enjoyed my short review, first time writing about a mascara!
What is your favourite mascara? Have you tried the False lash Effect? Comment to let me know! ^_^

Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss: Glisten Up Pink Review

Hey everyone! Hope all of you guys are doing great!
I've been absolutely pooped these days, I have two more days left for my Hair Styling course at at Mu and I couldn't be more relieved! The timings are pretty awkward and I don't get to blog or do much else. >.<
Not to mention I TOTALLY suck at hair, with all the aptitude I have been blessed with in the field of makeup, I think I have the negative of that in hair! Lol!
Oh well, keep trying right?

Anyway, today I'm reviewing Maybelline's new Colorsensational High Shine Gloss in the shade Glisten Up Pink!

Price:
INR 350

Packaging:
The lipgloss comes in a typical lip gloss packaging except that instead of it being round, it's square. The transparent tube lets you see what kind of colour it is. A weird thing about the packaging though is that it has no name of the brand, colour or anything like that on the side of the tube. WHY? I don't know. -__-'

It has a normal doe foot wand.

It has the name of the colour on the bottom.

Colour, Texture and Fragrance:

Glisten Up Pink is a baby pink colour, great for those who have fair and cooler skin. It has tiny silver shimmers that give the lips a plump look. They don't feel gritty in anyway and the lipgloss is quite smooth.
It has a very faint citrus smell and is completely non-sticky.

Swatches:

On left: Thick swatch On right: Spread out
As you can see, the baby pink colour doesn't suit me much at all, and washes me out or rather makes my skin look a bit yellow.
It is however a great colour to apply over nude lipstick or liner like MAC Spice, paired up with a black smokey eye.

One layer: Pigmentation still shows.

Two layers: Pigmentation well covered but still showing

Over nude pink lip liner
Wear:
The High Shine gloss doesn't last too long on my lips especially after eating. Because it is non-sticky it doesn't have the wear that another stickier gloss would have. A problem I had with this colour was that the silver shimmers would spread a bit around my mouth area. >.<
Without eating it lasts for 3-4 hours.

Overall:
Not being a lip gloss girl, I liked this one just because of the non sticky texture. It doesn't last long because of this though. The shimmers add a 3 dimensional look but move around. So for every pro there seems to be a con. The best pros are that it is cheap and available everywhere!
Of course, I would buy this gloss, especially to use on shoots but definitely would prefer a different colour, like Gleaming Grenadine or Captivating Coral just because they would suit me better!

There are 8 shades of the Colorsensational High Shine Glosses. You can see them all here.

Have you tried the Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss? What colour do you prefer? Do let me know in comments below!

Thanks for reading!

My Favourite BB cream so far: Etude Precious Minerals Bright Fit BB cream

I had pretty rough week but more about that in my next post. In this post I'm going to tell you about the BB cream I have been using a lot these past few months!

It's the Etude House Precious Minerals Bright Fit BB cream in the shade Natural Beige! (Is it just me or the longer the name of the BB cream, the better it is? Lol!)
I wanted to do a review for this BB cream before I went to Chandigarh but decided against it because I wanted to see how it fared in the dry climate there.

The Precious Minerals Bright Fit BB cream was sent to me by Taisoon from Two Face Mall, a great place to buy Korean makeup!
Taisoon is really nice and she's been very understanding about the fact that it took me so long to post this review!  couldn't help it! I wanted to be as thorough as I could for you guys! ♥

Thanks Two Face Mall! And sorry for my late review! ^_^'

About Two Face Mall:

Two Face Mall is a Korean skincare and makeup store based in Korea. It stocks not only some very popular brands of cosmetics but also has great deals and discounts like:

  • Free Shipping with tracking!
  • $5 off on signing up
  • Free Skinfood Avocado lip balm on purchase
The store also has a new "Buying Service":
The customer gives the details of the products and their own contact and address details, the store gives them an expected price on the products, the customer pays and the "buying" proceeds.
So you can find any products you fancy, ask for a price and get them delivered to you! A great way of finding products that are new or not yet available online outside of Korea!

Their prices may seem a bit higher than other sites but they offer s lot of extras which makes up for it! Including the registered shipping!

Now on to the review!

What Etude House says:
Zero Oil! Coverage Up! Longer Lasting!
Keep your dazzling looking skin all day like a precious pearl.

BB Cream formulated with Pearl Powder with an improved adhesive texture to promote moist, radiant looking skin while protecting against UV damage and wrinkles.

Shades available:
#1 Light Beige, #2 Natural Beige, #3 Honey Beige, #4 Sand Beige
(I've swatched the first three for you guys! ^_^)

Price:
$17.50 on Two Face Mall

Packaging:

The BB cream comes in a 60g tube. Like most Etude products the box and tube look very princessy and pretty! I love looking at the box sitting on my dresser.

The tube has a pump mechanism and you have to store it upside down. This pump is really great!
Non- messy and I can dispense just the right amount of cream! So, no wastage. :D

There is just one small problem I have with the packaging. It's stupid but the tube has the colour written only in Korean and in very small letters! Lol! I can read Korean but on the go, it is difficult to find which one I want, especially since my sister recently bought a tube and her colour is different from mine.
Because of this, we keep the boxes, they show the shades on the the top flap. Thank Heavens! >.<

Colour, Smell and Texture:
This Bright it BB cream is an upgrade from before, the older one had only two not very "Indian skin friendly" colours. But with the 2012 upgrade they have definitely managed to make a lot of shades to suit many skin tones! 4 shades is more than most BB creams ever have!
I'm pretty pleased that Etude had the foresight to see that many women couldn't use their products due to the lack of shdes. I hope other brands pick up from them!

#1 Light Beige, #2 Natural Beige, #3 Honey Beige

The texture of the BB cream is quite liquid unlike the BRTC Gold Caviar cream. It melts into the skin well and blends easily. It has a matte finish but also adds a slight glow.
The smell is like a floral talcum powder. I don't mind it! :)

Efficacy:
The Bright Fit Precious Minerals BB cream does a lot of what it promises. It has a lovely finish, what one would call "matte but not flat." My shade is Natural Beige which is slightly lighter at first but oxidises to match my skin perfectly.
The BB cream fills pores quite effectively, this isn't promised by Etude, just something I noticed and LOVE.
It covers redness well and covers dark spots effectively too! I also like the fact that it has SPF 30 sunscreen! Yay!
Only BB cream, no concealer or powder

In the more humid Mumbai weather you do need to powder, but I like to powder just my T-zone because it gives my cheeks a lovely dewy glow.
In Chandigarh I had much drier skin and had to moisturise before applying this BB cream. Otherwise it looked pretty chalky!
So, beware if you have really dry skin! If you have oily skin, you will love this stuff! Both my sister and I love this BB cream and haven't experienced any break outs! >w< ♥

No skin photoshopping! :D All BB cream and a little concealer.

Lasting Power:
Lets just say, sweat all you want, you come home all gross and oily but you will still have the BB cream coverage! And when I cleanse it off and wash my face, my face looks brighter! :D A big plus!

Overall:
If you have oily, dull and spotty skin, this BB cream could be a savior for you! It has a nice semi-matte finish, even at the end of a long day, it stays on and makes your skin brighter. So go for it!
If you have dry skin though, be careful, it might be too drying for you!

Definitely a BB cream I will keep buying! Will you be trying it?

I also wanted to say that this is my first review using my new camera! The colours came out really accurate! >u<
Hope you enjoyed the pics!

Maybelline Color Tattoo Review/ Swatches: Edgy Emerald

I cannot get over the Color Tattoo range! Why you so amazing Color Tattoo? I want them ALL!
I did review Painted Purple in September and mentioned how I was smitten with Edgy Emerald  so I finally picked it up! I wanted to get the Bronze one too but it was sold out! I can imagine it IS the most popular because it seems to be the only neutral one. Why Maybelline? Y U NO HAS MORE NEUTRALS?

Anyway, here's my review for Edgy Emerald! I'm not going to go through all the details again because I already did that here! This is going to be a very colour specific review. ^_^

Edgy Emerald is a brilliant blue green colour with gold shimmer. It shifts from turquoise to a greenish gold with the light.

You can blend it from a heavy, thick finish to a thin sheer one. I did find that this colour was more prone to cracking than painted purple and needed thin layered applications.

Even so, if applied properly, it had no problems and refused to budge for hours! No creasing, nothing!

Swatches:

natural light (more blue)

with flash (more green/gold)
I couldn't get the swatches off my arm with two showers and much rubbing!
In fact even the next day I had hints of shimmer on my arm. So full marks for lasting power here!

Here's my EOTD:

I used the browns from the Coastal Scents 88 palette and Edgy Emerald.

I also did another simple EOTD, the idea of using the Color Tattoo as a liner was niggling at my mind, so I tried it on my other eye!
AND It works! :D

I had some cracking at my inner corner because I layered it too thick. But it CAN totally be an eyeliner!

So, I'm still in love with the Color Tattoos! I think, even more since it can double as liner. >w<

Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥

What do you think? Will you be trying it that way?
Sorry if this review was short-ish btw, I mean, I would just be repeating myself right? :/
Anyway, hope you liked it!

NYX One Night in Morocco Palette Review

*Sigh* I want to go to Morocco, it looks like such an exotic place, where according to The Simpsons, they take only US dollars because their "Monkey is drugs, everything is drugs, even the money is drugs!" LOL!

Well, this damn palette is a drug too! I'm addicted! I use it every time I need a neutral or smokey look these days. It isn't the best palette ever or anything like that, in fact there are a few things I'd like to change but it is pretty damn useful anyway!
I got this baby from a blogsale, I think they sell them for 800-900 INR on shopping sites, but Healthkart is the only one I've seen that has it. You can always try ordering from abroad.

The packaging is a black plastic box inside a Styrofoam cover, inside the cardboard box above with the smug looking lady on it.. Why does she look so smug? I bet it's because her eye makeup is so kickass! LOL!

The black box has eight eyeshadows, the four in top row are much cooler in comparison to the lower row, I haven't used much of the top row except the black.
The long strip is an eyeshadow base, it's pretty whatever. It creases if used too thick but eyeshadow sticks to it well. Pretty useful on the go.

Then there are the lipglosses! WHY DO THEY ALWAYS HAVE LIPGLOSS?! I hate lip gloss in palettes! I want blush in a palette, not sucky lip gloss!. >:|
They aren't even well pigmented, as all other palette lip glosses. Hmph..

The Base:
It goes on a peachy colour, great for me because my eyelid area tends to be very red. But I have to be careful not to slather it on like crazy. Just dab a bit on. I wonder if it's the same base that comes in the little jar.. Hmm..
SCARY SCARY SCARY!

Neutralised!

The Shadows:
The shadows are AMAZING! They're the star of this palette, they should be! They're fine and almost creamy. Except for the white, they have great colour pay-off! They are supposed to be matte but some have a smidgen of shimmer, I'm not complaining. ;)
Top row- UP: Without base DOWN: With base
See, the white an grey are so meh that the base actually shows through!

Lower Row: AKA My favourites!

What I hate though, is that since they are so fine, the particles get into the base! AHSFJSLSKHJLL!! I hate that!! I want a clean base! Not all muddy dammit!

Lip gloss swatch, just because..

They feel like wax!Never gonna use them! X(

Here's a simple EOTD I did with the shadows, you can see how the base has creased a bit in the lower picture.

Overall, this is a good buy for beginners, the shadows are good quality and easy to work with. I love using the lower row ones for everyday looks! I just wish they had put the base in the lower compartment with a blush rather than having those lip glosses. >:(

So, will you be buying this palette? Or pass? Or do you already have it?

My 7 Lipsticks for Summer

How do you know it's summer in Mumbai? The humidity more than the heat, really. When the back of your neck gets sweaty when you sleep, when that plastic chair sticks to to your bare legs when you're trying to get up and when you see the first pimple of the season *sobs*! I didn't even have ONE so far. T^T Now I have to go back to my old skincare routine... I'm getting derailed here..

Anyway, summer brings some good things too! Ice cream!  You can wear your toenails in pretty colours and show them off in open sandals and best of all, you can go crazy with colour! (Actually, the ice cream was the best of all.)  In your make up, clothes, everything! You can go wild. :D And I intend to do just that! With lipsticks.

These are my 7 lipsticks for summer, I want to say that I tend to go for heavier finishes rather than sheer because my lips are weird. -__- They're darker at the corners and very pink in the centre, so sheer colours just look strange on me. Anyway, on to the colours!

From L-R: NYX Haute Melon, Faces French Rose, MNY Bronze Orange, Blushing Brunette, Coral Pink, NYX Angel, NYX Addis Ababa
Does it totally show that I'm a NYX and Maybelline hoarder? Thought as much..

Arm Swatches:
Without flash

With flash
So yeah, as you can see, LOTS of coral/ orange and some pink in there! I didn't want to do lip swatches because my lips are in a horribly chapped condition but then, it's a lipstick post.. So yeah.. Enjoy looking at my scary mouth!

Lip Swatches:

Haute Melon
Haute Melon: This is a NYX Round lipstick. It's one of my favourite colours, I got it last month but I've wanted it for a year atleast and it was always unavailable! I know I sound insane because it looks like chapstick in my swatch but it is somewhere between sheer and opaque but I love its pinky-orange shade (the orange isn't really showing up on the lips, the arm swatch is more accurate.) It brightens up the face almost instantly and doesn't settle into lines.. Which I have a LOT of. The finish is more waxy than other round lippis but that is actually a good thing because damn the creamy ones can melt!

French Rose: This is from the Faces Moisture Rich range. I love this colour! It is BRIGHT and a lovely red orange, but wearability wise, we have a love- hate relationship. You can see it enhances chapped lips. The texture is creamy but not as melty" as NYX. I did a review on it before, you can read it here.

Bronze Orange: This is a Maybelline Colorsensational Moisture Rich Lipstick, it's a lovely wearable dusty orange. I did a review for it here. (Btw don't laugh at my foundation colour there, I had spent most of my life believing I was an "olive" skin tone. -__-)

Ugh, this swatch does Blushing Brunette no justice!

This is what it REALLY looks like on me

Blushing Brunette: This is one of my favourite shades from Maybelline! I have no idea why it looks so bad and yellow in my lip swatch, but the above pic and my arm swatch is what it really looks like. It is a slighly cool nude/ pink/ orange colour. It really brightens up my skin tone and has a hint of gold shimmers that just make it look yummy!

Coral Pink: Another Maybelline shade, I love how bright it is and yet subtle. Great for work, when you want to be adventurous without going overboard! Very moisturising and stays on pretty long although not transfer proof.

Angel: This is a NYX Matte lipstick that I bought with Haute Melon, I love this shade. It burns the retinas of all those who look directly at it! It really is a dupe of Impassioned by Mac but slightly less red, more red than the picture though. Again, the arm swatch is more accurate. Why the hell am I doing lip swatches! They're all screwed up. -__- The flash made this one really.. weird..

Addis Ababa: This is not a lipstick according to NYX, it is a soft matte lip cream.. Well, whatever it is,I FRIGGIN' LOVE IT! This is my favourite pink! A fuchsia with blue tones and it actually has some blue shimmers too. So summery! *u* It makes your teeth look white and my it really suits my slightly cooler skin tone too! In fact, I love this colour so much, I'm looking for a dupe. I've ordered a Faces Satin Matte lipstick in Magenta, lets see how close they are. :D

Well, that is it for my summer lipsticks! You can go on over to the Beauty and the Cheap Facebook page and vote for your favourite lip colours for summer. :D And you can let me know in the comments, which colours you love and hate. Maybe give me some advice on some more colours I can hoard for summer.
Why not, summer's just getting started. :)
